Me, holding a gun to the bioluminescent chemical compounds: “tell me. Tell me the answer. Why must you keep this from us!? All of us! Think of what it could mean for society!”
The bioluminescent compounds, speaking in unison with contempt on their faces: “but what WOULD it mean for society, huh? Face it. It would mean nothing but pain, even if it’s not directly caused by me. The eyes are simply too sensitive. It would make too much of a negative difference.”
Me with tears streaming down my face, shaking: “you’re a coward! You simply hide behind dinoflagellate toxins! saxitoxin and yessotoxin! You just hide behind the dopamine that my species has when we see your ‘chosen ones.’ But not me! Not… not me. I see the truth of who you are! Who you choose and who you choose to be.”
The bioluminescent compounds, sighing: “but do you see, truly? Do your eyes even send a signal to your brain? You don’t need us. You’re feeble human eyes just can’t comprehend the wavelength. Or perhaps, it doesn’t want to. Perhaps it’s against the small and slow. Perhaps your whole species is! It’s not us whose stopping people from what YOU want. It’s the people! …well, perhaps…” *The silence continues before they start laughing.* “besides, even if we rule out the weak eyes of your species, we are still not the problem.” *It’s smile is suddenly cut off, and they look down sadly.* “We are but mere chemicals. We have no will of our own. We are simply used by others, and you have not yet found the way to use us. We. are. not. talking.”
Me: “…but… that would mean… no…”
The bioluminescent chemical compounds: “open your eyes. You’re eyes may not be strong enough to see what you desire, but they are strong enough to see the true waves. Look.”
True story btw this happened to me :3
