okay so i've talked about here and there before, in separate posts. briefly going into what kuro's immortality can do for him. but i feel like i need to make a pretty in depth post to compile all the stuff i have for it. kuro's immortality is intentionally cruel; given to him by an outer god only known as 'vivian'. vivian was an invasive entity who had stepped in and played a part in the universe's shifting power dynamic between it's own gods and deities ( god my head world is so big ughgjkdfh ).
though the source of his immortality varies from every verse; the way it presents itself is always, always the same.
under readmore for visual gore, and it's pretty long.
kuro was made immortal at the age of 30. the intent was to ensure he could carry out his god's will unimpeded. but vivian is not known for being merciful, or caring very much about things like the human psyche. thus kuro was left with a human mind that could not really comprehend at the time... just what was in store for him.
at it's very core; it keeps him from death. kuro cannot die, and he will remain forever untouched by it in any shape or form. hence why he also doesn't age anymore. but it doesn't keep him from suffering, or experiencing human things. kuro can still feel pain like anyone else, though his tolerance is disturbingly high. he's got his limits and he avoids it, despite how little risk there actually is for him. worse yet, kuro can still get sick, he can still experience starvation, he can feel what it's like to drown- like the only thing this gift gives him is a promise he will never die. and ensures that even from the smallest cell, kuro will remain in one piece. and due to vivian's nature as a lovecraftian deity; he can even return from nothing.
he regenerates at a ridiculous speed. though this does actually vary depending on what kind of damage his body takes. broken bones heal within moments, where as losing entire limbs might take a minute or two. the element used can also effect the way his body returns to normal. while freezing him is a good way to slow the process it cannot stop it entirely.
usually though his body will want to keep what it has. and if people can catch it they can see his flesh & blood literally reaching out for whatever was lost. whether that be with his own hands, or a strange amalgam of... stuff. once tissue is reconnected it's a very short process to get everything back in order.
in the event of decapitation in particular, it looks much like this. and he is still capable of thought and speech while his head is not on his body. if his body cannot retrieve the head or there isn't a head to return to him- he can grow a new one. the details of his consciousness returning to his body is ... weird. but it does. the previous head or limbs remain, and will rot like any other piece of meat.
for any of you blood suckers and meat eaters; kuro's got an unlimited supply. though the blood is endless, and much less painful to part with than a liver or kidney.
the only thing he cannot grow back, or rid himself of, are the scar around his throat- and his missing right eye. these were achieved before his immortality was given to him, and thus permanent. he can never grow the eye back.
it is good to remember btw, that hypnos is much more powerful than he makes himself seem. as he is shown more than capable of putting even gods to sleep.
Love seeing tiktoks that are like WORST FICTIONAL DADS EVER!!! And its like. All characters from kids cartoons that aren't supposed to be taken seriously in the first place
