99% of the time I'm glad and relieved Stargate isn't as popular a franchise as Star Wars and Star Trek. Like it remains semi-untouched by stupidity that way, and there hasn't really been a contemporary fandom revival necessitating the retroactive imposition of New Fandom discourse onto an Old Fandom (ie, @spurious and I were just discussing how insufferable it would be to see kids calling SGA 'queer baiting,' or trying to rip a character like John Sheppard from his DADT early 2000s context). I truly believe the show benefits from not being picked apart by contemporary standards of "wokeness," and I tend to really like the older skewing fan-base and high quality, retro-feeling characterization in fic.

But there are also days when it makes me really sad, simply because its my favorite ever and I just! Want more people to talk to about it. I've shared all my thoughts and theories ten hundred times with my poor wife. I violently and feverishly rehash the same conversations with my like, three fandom friends. I just love Stargate so much I want there to be more Stargate stuff in the world, or more Stargate fans to talk to! I get to do Trek and SW tattoos all the time, there's no shortage of art for my studio, they're both massive cultural mainstays and Stargate just....isn't! And I dunno!!! In moments this really bums me out.
