prefacing by saying the setting is a little similar to fallout since that's the best i can describe it. there are small towns/communities and very rarely big cities. it's not post apocalyptic like fallout but it is sort of dystopian. another thing is there isn't really any 'law'. humans and vampires alike get away with 'crimes' often.

his backstory is, at 14 his step father sold him out, got his mother killed, and nearly got jean killed. his life was saved by a powerful vampiress named cerena, which obviously resulted in him becoming a vampire.

he hated it. he hated becoming a vampire. he did not take to the change well, and for a long time refused to feed. for a long time, jean was weak. eventually, jean sort of accepted what he had became. there was no going back but he also didn't want to die. cerena told him that he didn't need human blood; animal and synthetic blood was good enough.

at 16, he decided to head out on his own. he didn't really know where he was going, but he couldn't remain in one place any longer. jean then meets neil, who soon enough becomes his best friend and they decide to travel together.

eventually they settle down in a slum town. partly because jean WANTED to settle down for awhile. partly because the person who had attacked jean and his mother oversaw the town. at this point, jean is about 20 years old.

it's here he meets his soon to be other friends; kyu, chera, and ben.

THAT ONE IS MY SISTERS ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TO HEAR SHE THINKS ITS HILARIOUS. she and my parents and all involved right hand to god swear they have never catered a single wedding without mr brightside. and there is i think a timing thing where it comes acceptable and thats like... at midnight after everyones been dancing for hours and is just blitzed. but you cannot play killing yourself music within the first three hours thats my opinion. once everyone is drunk as fuck i understand dancing music and party shit but if you play mr brightside within the first hour ... someone messed upp

thankfully i never ended up deep in proship circles but. i sympathize bc i was in communities that were "neutral" and so they turned a blind eye to how they left the door open for predators to slip in. i was involved in gore circles, nobody ever really explained to me what impact being abused would have on me other than "its illegal and can get the grown up in trouble", and they would talk about explicit things in front of me and just say "oh well dont google this lol". it's hard to recover from it esp when uve been burned by the way opposite end of the morality scale but i understand your hesitation towards the hardcore "no bad content ever" crowd. i feel really skeptical about a lot of those people too. but ultimately id rather take my chance with someone who has anti in their bio than someone who is "neutral". but like yeah no i feel you man its a tough journey and im proud of you for working thru it
