Like A Stone is a touching, thought-provoking song that encompasses a reflection of someone's life and the curiosity of imminent death. More importantly, circling around the burning question we dare not voice: is there an afterlife? And, if so, how will we be received? How was our life on Earth? Chris Cornell does an amazing job delivering raw, gritty vocals that truly enhance the dark, bittersweet nature of the song. Personally, the part I find myself reflecting on the most is the bridge, where the singer confesses that he had spent the day reading a book, which most listeners believe to be the bible, and how he finds himself looking back on his 'regrets', his life lived. It is a song that really puts your own life into perspective, to peel back the layers of mundane day-to-day and observe it from a long-term outcome based on our actions.
