Had to
@usually-abnormal The small boy shuffles through the trees. His stomach growls, making him pause and look through the trees. He could see a few houses in the distance. At least that is what he guesses the lights to be. His stomach growls painfully. He bites his finger and moves along after focusing his eyes on one light furthest from the rest. He hopes there will not be other lights there. His stomach continues to grumble as he walks. It starts to grow dark when he gets close enough to realize that it is the only house he sees. The others were far away now. That and the light he saw must have been from the sun. A sun that would go down soon. Leaving him in the dark again. He gets as close as he dares to the house. He shuffles from one tree to the other. He didn't hear any dogs. He didn't see any lights. He didn't hear any music or signs that anyone was home. The boy wonders if it will be empty. If so, then he could sleep inside instead of out here. It would be a little warmer at least. The green child peeks in the windows. It doesn't look empty. But there also doesn't look like there is anyone in there. He will just have to take things and leave. He can't stay. That is okay though. He can take some food and warm things. It's not a good thing to do. But it will keep him alive. The boy finds a window that is open a small crack. He wiggles his fingers under it and pries it open more. Then he crawls inside and slowly moves to the floor. He is still for several moments. Not a sound. The boy takes a deep breath and moves to find the kitchen.
You won’t believe your eyes
@i-am-the-bamf ~closed thread They are coming again. The small boy can hear them. Dozens of feet. Voices blending into a strange roaring sound. One voice is louder than the rest. It makes the boy flinch. He can't understand what this booming voice is saying. But he knows it. It belongs to the big man. The big and scary man. Already the tears were forming. The green child can't help it. He's scared. He is always scared. It gets even more scary when the people come. Soon there is one more shout and suddenly there is light in his cage. The child can hear people gasping. When his eyes adjust, he looks at them. They whisper. They point. They move closer to the cage. There is whacking and he hops back with a cry. The big loud man grabs his chain connected to his collar and pulls him forward, towards the people. He falls. They laugh. Then they quiet down. The big man pulls the curtain close. He is left alone to cry. The child knows they will be back. All but the big man will have different faces. But they will be the same. The green boy tries to calm down. But when another group comes along, he starts crying again. This is how it has been since he woke up and found himself in this cell. Even when they yell at him. He cries until he falls asleep. But sleep is a long time off. So when the curtain opens, he is shaking and tears are falling anew.
Can I have a Halloween?
Continued from here with @i-am-the-bamf Mortimer looks up at the man, a small smile beginning to form. He can have it? The thought is making Mortimer so happy he could hop. Soon he is looking back at the fake jack 'o' lantern. Mortimer will soon have a white pumpkin kitty faced halloween! He already loves it. "Yes please," he answers before looking up again with a wide smile, squeezing the man's hand. The smile doesn't falter as he follows the other inside the store. His eyes widen. There wasn't just halloweens everywhere but all kinds of things! Costumes, spooky ghosts on strings, black cats, plastic cauldrons, witch hats and brooms, and many, many skeletons! Some of it, plenty of it actually, is starting to scare him so he moves closer to Kurt. But when Mortimer sees the cat face on white, he is smiling brightly again. There were many others like it in all sorts of colors he realizes, from blues to purples to black and green. Some also sparkled from the colored glitter on them. But as far as Mortimer was concerned, they were nothing like the pretty white one.
New home, New Nightmares
@i-am-the-bamf Today is the day. The small green boy couldn't believe it. He is going to be leaving here and going to a new home! With someone that won't be afraid of him. Someone that is different like him. He had met the man once. For too short of time. The people here set it up like that so Mortimer can't tell the man anything that could get them into trouble though Mortimer didn't know. All he knows is that for someone reason someone wanted to take him home and be his parent. That is more than enough for the small green child as he looks out the window, waiting in the chair he had been instructed to sit in. By his wrapped feet is a small bag of spare clothes they round up as well as his thin blanket and mask. He glances down at his bag with a smile before his eyes go back to the view of the window when he hears someone clearing their throat. the smile is gone when he turns around. Already fear is forming. He knows it is one of the foster parents here. Are they here to tell him that the nice man had changed his mind? That he isn't going to go to his house and live with him?
Then Mortimer sees a child standing between him and the foster parent. A smaller child that is clearly younger than Mortimer himself. A child that is looking down at his feet instead of him. Mortimer quickly pulls up the hood on the oversized hoodie he is wearing. "He will be going with you. Keep an eye on him," the foster parent tells him before handing the smaller child a bag similar to the one handed to him. Then they looked to the window and frowned before hurrying off. Mortimer looks at the boy and opens his mouth to say something before he hears something. He turns and out the window he sees a car. Could that be him? Mortimer looks over his shoulder, smiling once again.
"I think he's here! You want to see him? Have you met him?" Mortimer asks.
The boy shakes his head and walks over, hugging his little bag to his chest. "My name is Mortimer. What is yours?" Mortimer asks. Usually he is too shy to talk to anyone else but his excitement is pushing his shyness aside at the moment. "Todd," the other boy whispers as he watches the car drive up closer.
Can I have a Halloween?
Open Halloween special starter for lil Mortimer
It started shortly after school began. Although Mortimer didn't go to school, he knew when it started. It was all over tvs, radios, even on papers announcing schools were going to start again so you better get all your kids needs! Mortimer wondered why it was such a big thing and what did kids need for school but never asked. Soon though he heard or saw less of these.
Now he was seeing something else. Something he has only heard of but never seen or fully grasped. The words was Halloween. The other foster kids always seem excited about it. But what was it? Then he thinks he figured it out. Suddenly everywhere he goes there are these orange things with spooky faces in them. Some actually scare Mortimer though he would not say it out loud. Some though were neat though or looked funny. He liked the ones with cat faces the best. Then there is one that not only had a cat face on it but it was white instead of orange. It has a little light in it rather than a candle. Mortimer likes that because he isn't fond of fires, even tiny flames. It is amazing and he couldn't stop looking at it. When he feels his hand being tugged gently, a silent request to have him come along, Mortimer looks up and points a green finger at the white cat faced pumpkin. "C-can I have a Halloween?" he asks quietly.
The small cure to loneliness
closed thread with @mystiquesotherchild This recent development had not turned out as planned. Mystique glances back at the rear-view mirror, looking at a small form covered completely from head to toe. No, this was not according to her plan. She had been looking for a new recruit for her team, the Brotherhood of mutants. She came upon a tip that Xavier was about to make a move to recruit a mutant locally. She had assumed that if that man wanted them, she wanted them. Xavier has been recruiting too many for his side and if she is to stand a chance to change the world, she needed to get to them before he did. She succeeded. However she did not plan for him to go after a child. She went over her sources. Her notes. There was not mistake. He was interested in this child. Why, she can't imagine. Not currently. All she can come up with is that with his little machine, he saw this child's potential. There had to be some saving grace here. If not, she may have to admit she had been tricked to take on this burden. A burden she can not introduced to her team. He was too small and too weak to even begin to train him. She had considered dumping the child onto the streets. Or even on the steps of that institute for mutants. But then she received a call from her love. Irene expressed concern over Micheal's mood of late. Of course her son would be depressed. She has not been able to spend much time with him as she would like. Nor could Irene give him much company. But now she had someone that could provide all the company her son would need. There is an age gap between the two but that would only serve her purposes for when Micheal no longer wants this child's company, the child will be old enough to begin training. She parks her car and gets out. Without a word, the child does the same. "Follow me," she orders and goes into her home. She exchanges only a glance to Irene, she will explain in a moment. She wanted to get this part done and over with as soon as possible. So she climbs the stairs and undoes the latches. She ignores the small whimper from the child at her heel. Soon Raven, in her true appearance, emerges in the attic. "Micheal? Micheal please come here. I have... something for you," she calls out, glancing at the child that is making a poor attempt to hide behind her.
"Where are your parents?" to Mortimer (From Cybl, if that's alright)
Mortimer is curled up under a tree that is leaning almost to far to one side, leaving it to look as if it is frozen mid fall. It’s because of this appearance that Mortimer chose it to hide. Now he is sitting there and crying, his old itch mask getting wet. He had just ran away from a group of older kids that had pushed him around and tried to take of his mask. They kept calling him freak, a name Mortimer doesn’t like. Now he is lost and scared. He has no where to go to and it is getting later. Will he have to sleep under this tree?Crying into his arms, he didn’t see anyone come near him. So when someone speaks to him, Mortimer jumps and tries to back further against the tree but not going anywhere. He looks up at the young lady with pretty brown hair. Her words sink in. Should he answer? She looks older. “I-I don’t know. I’m not suppose to. Wh-who are you?” Mortimer asks quietly.
