Lilac Queen! 💜 my sister is so beautiful!!
My little sister is the 2017 Lilac Queen!! She delivered a beautiful speech that told stories of how she was bullied for her skin tone and hair, she told how she wrote a letter to the district school board to make real change happen in her school. She explained that this is why she wants to become a civil rights lawyer so she can give a voice to the voiceless. "I was not put on this Earth to sit still and look pretty, but to be a person for others and do what is right." -August Corppetts I am so insanly proud of her and this accomplishment!! #blackgirlsrock Also! She is the 2nd black woman to win Lilac Queen in all of the 79 years the festival has occured!!
