We took some adoptable rats on an adventure to an event today! And this is what they decided to do with their bodies. We had fun, sold some merch, adopted one girl to a forever home, and arranged some "dates" for people looking to find a bun friend for their pet rabbits. We'll be at Bloomington Pridefest next Saturday! Meet us there if you're in our area! We'll show you whatever ridiculous animals are weather appropriate for that day! Teeny hands on mighty cashews! Rufus gets to choose one treat from his treat bucket each night. He flies from his cage onto me to grab one. Then he used to fly back with it and eat it behind his castle until he figured out he could just sit and eat on me. He likes to climb up and down me like I'm a big talkative tree. Then he'll stop for occasional ear rubs and hop back and forth between his cage and me. I'm up in Indy today with Lloyd and Marlon buns doing vet stuff. I can't remember if we mentioned it but Marlon has had issues with his right eye being less responsive for a while now. It doesn't blink right or adjust to light, and it was getting very dry all the time. Then the CT of his head that we got for the mouth/nose infection also revealed an unrelated mass behind that eye which he will be getting removed today. Lloyd is at our house specifically because of his strange line of abscesses down his side that would be a bit too much for a regular foster house. We'll be removing and treating those today. King Bumi has nothing to do with any of that. Cute snoots and lil grabbies! This lady was being sweet at our last adoption/fundraising event, and she'll be at @btown_pride festival this weekend here in Bloomington (Indiana). Here's some rat trivia. Rats paws have "pseudo thumb" nubbins to help them grip things much like pandas! They're just little bumps on their paws that act a bit like our opposed thumbs so they can make "pinch" motions. Those beady black eyes are also all pupil. Most rats have blue eyes, but their lil blue irises are only sometimes visible at the edges.
