And the entire fight between Show and Shion is done in the style of the Asticassia School Duels from G-Witch

They even do their own version of the G-Witch pre-fight exchange!

Oh and it turns out this whole thing started with Lilis and Chum chatting about how Kamille could use a fairy companion now that he's a Battler (long story).

I find it charmingly whimsical that Tomino worked on a portal fantasy and a space opera in the 80s, and decided that both shows absolutely needed a tiny fairy companion for the protagonist. In retrospect, I'm kinda surprised he didn't find a way to justify doing that for Kamille in Zeta as well.
