First hug

-(Lilly POV)-

"Thanks for that. You talked me through it." Grayson lifts his hand, still a a bit shaky, and puts it lightly on my cheek. "You okay?"

“A lot better now that you are,” I feel the relief wash over me, and I release the bloody scarf from the back of his head and let it drop to the floor beside us, before I reach up and wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him down towards me as I rest my head on his shoulder, squeezing him tightly in my arms. 

He’s warm, he’s comfortable. 

“Please, don’t scare me like that again.” 

My voice remains even, despite the tears that have streamed off my cheeks and into his jacket.

-(Grayson POV)-

At first I freeze up - she is hugging me, for Christ sake, and she has never done that before, and I don't remember the last time someone did- 

But at the same time, it's Lilly. 

Lilly, who says things that make something in my chest jump a little. Lilly, who always looks like she cares. Lilly, who is strong in ways I never imagined. 

Hesitantly I circle my arms around her too, hug her back. Her frame so tiny against mine, I'm overcome by a sudden urge to get her somewhere safe. To protect her. 

It doesn't make sense at all. But maybe it doesn’t have to. Just a second longer.

Here is art I commissoned from the same artist as you @fandomescapades​, since her take on Grayson and Lilly was so good! This scene is angstier than the one from you XD But I love it. It’s their first hug, the first step forward, where they are building their trust. Grayson is still so new to affection and Lilly is loving and caring the way he needed but never dreamed of having. It’s one of my favourite moments.
