also add in the “too many of our children are OVERMEDICATED ZOMBIES they don’t ACTUALLY have adhd” shit which is obviously sourced by parents unable to accept their childs disability but u still see newspaper articles about it
uggghh yeah fucking hate this stuff. like it completely ignores how things are for the children for a start. it never talks about actually changing things in society that make it hard for people with adhd either, except maybe the most superficial things. it's just... ugh. yeah it's really shitty and insulting and ignores the voices of those who are actually affected by it. it stinks.

not to mention how they assume the artist's body of work is never really about their talent, creativity or hard work. Nah miss me with that weird fixation for drama and 'depth'
haha yeah it's nonsense. completely ignoring the incredible hard work artists have to put in and saying it's all down to them feeling shitty. and yeah the whole "tortured artist" idea also leads to really gross stuff about how things become "deeper" cause someone had a shit life. and it's almost always after they've died too, like you can avoid feeling guilty about them having experienced awful stuff and having their talent and work completely ignored and just say "oh how sad... but such deep work". man there's so much about the way art is talked about and what makes quality art that absolutely grosses me out. you're completely right
also reminds me of the way people talk about utopian futures and then cry about how it wouldn't have good art because it would lack conflict! imagining a future where billions of people are finally able to have a life which isn't a constant struggle and where they'd actually have a chance to make art and you have these "profound thinkers" worrying that art wouldn't be good enough. pathetic. some people seem to live off other's pain
