I have an idea thats been rolling around in my head for a while and hopefully I can explain it. Morgana and reader fell in love before Morgana turned and knew about the magic and promised to protect her. They still love Morgana but couldn't condone her actions. Morgana kidnaps them (the dark tower) and it comes out that the reader has been protecting Morgana this whole time (making sure she got out of Camelot, sending the dragon to heal her, finding and rescuing her from the pit)
my respects to grace and virtue
So, I had to rewatch the Dark Tower for this one and there’s a skip when Morgan and Gwen arrive at the dark tower, so I’m just going to have the reader past out and wake when they are already there. -Admin Lily
*Merthur Mentioned*
—Years Ago—“(Y/N), I have something to tell you,” Morgana says as you enter the room. She quickly shuts the door behind you and stands in front of her.
You notice her posture and attitude.
“What’s wrong?” you ask with concern.
“I… have magic,” the brunette whispers, bracing herself for your rejection.
You step forward and pull Morgana into a hug.
“I love you,” you whisper to the girl as you hold her in your arms. “And nothing, even magic, can change that.”
“I love you too,” she answers hugging you back.
—Today—
Today was the anniversary of the death of Gwen and Elyan’s father. Because of this, you and several other knights (consisting of Gwaine, Percival, and Leon) have accompanied the royal advisor. While the knights were all friends with Gwen and Elyan, they had never met their father and were mostly there for protection. You, on the other hand, had known Gwen since she had moved to Camelot and became Morga- … her servant.
You stood close behind the siblings as they paid their respects with the others standing behind the three of you. You see the siblings smile and hug before Gwen looks back and motions you forward.
“Come here, (Y/N), you’re practically his child with the way he adored you. I’m sure our father would have no qualms if you join us.”
It was true that after your parents died when you were a teenager that the blacksmith took you in, but it felt good to hear it from Gwen that he saw you as his child as you saw him as your father. You hug both of your adopted siblings before having a moment of silence for the great man before you.
As Gwen, the knights, and you travel, you all talk and banter back and forth. It was when everyone was laughing that the snakes attacked. One went for Percival’s horse, making the steed throw Percival right off. Leon, Gwaine, and Elyan quickly dismounted and began to attack the snake nest.
“Go! Protect her, (Y/N)!” Leon yelled as he slashed at the reptile.
“Come on,” you gestured with your head and Gwen raced off in that direction with you.
You are both going at full speed when a figure appears ahead. You both slow and stop before the cloaked woman.
‘Morgana,’ you think as she removes her hood.
“Go Gwen!” you say without thinking. You had to be alone for this.
Guinevere takes off and you hear horse hooves gallop away from the evil sorceress.
“Morgana,” you say, staying still and watching her, “what are you doing?”
She, oh goodness, she smirks. The smirk that you remember occurring every time someone underestimated her, every time she was smarter, every time she was causing mischief.
“What do you think, (Y/N)? Just causing some trouble.”
‘Oh no,’ you think before Morgana’s beautiful eyes turn golden and you’re out like a light.
When you open your eyes, you see the ground. Looking around, you realized you’re tied to the back of your own horse, who is happily following Morgana.
‘She was always good with animals,’ you think fondly before snapping yourself out of it.
No! It has been years since Morgana has felt that way about you. She has changed and so have you. You cannot kept holding on to this unrequited love… especially when the one who doesn’t love you back has kidnapped you and tied you to a horse!
You stay silent and try to think of a way to escape after your internal battle, but you keep getting distracted by Morgana. It has just been so long since you’ve seen her. You’ve been worried. It was hard to take your eyes off her when you thought the second you looked away she would disappear. Finally, it seems you have gotten to wherever you were going as the horses enter a clearing. Morgana stops and turns around. She grins at you and says, “Oh (Y/N), you’re awake? I would have expected to hear something from you by now.”
You don’t because ‘She’s here!’ and ‘She’s actually looking at me, talking to me. She’s okay!’
Morgana is displeased when you don’t answer and undoes your binds with magic. You quickly stand, but that’s it. You know you should check if you still have a weapon, but you can’t. Not when the love of your life was standing in front of you for the first time in years.
Morgana is visibly upset now. She stomps her foot loudly and yells, “What’s wrong with you! You aren’t scared and you won’t react. It’s like you don’t even cared you’ve been kidnapped. Fight me, run away, do something!”
You just stare and after a few seconds start chuckling. Of course Morgana would be the type of person to demand her captive to run away because they wouldn’t respond. She was always like that. Demanding attention until she got it.
The witch glared harder at you, “What’s wrong with you? You haven’t really gone insane, right?”
You shake your head, tears in your eyes. You’re just so overwhelming happy to see her.
“Morgana, it’s you,” you finally say, smiling, “oh the ancient kings and queens Morgana, it’s you.”
Morgana stands, clearly flustered and not knowing what to do with the situation.
You walk slowly towards her.
“I can’t believe it. I’m so happy to see you!” you hug the woman to your chest and put your head on her shoulder.
“It’s you.”
Morgana doesn’t do anything for a while, just lets you hug her. She eventually hug you back and you can’t stop the grin from forming on your face. She was here and safe and alive. You couldn’t have asked for anything better.
As all good things end, the hug breaks apart after a minute or so, but you can’t stop grinning.
“Stop,” Morgana says, smiling, “you look like a dweeb.”
You laugh at her remark.
“I’m just glad you’re okay.”
Morgana’s smile falters and you frown, “What’s wrong?”
The brunette looks down, “It’s just… I don’t know if I can forgive you.”
“For what?”
“For leaving me for years! For not helping me! For not trusting me!” Morgana is suddenly angry again. Her eyes flash gold as she rages.
You quickly respond, “I’ve always helped you!”
Morgana immediately calms. Her eyes stop flashing and she breathes a little easier.
“How?” she says, almost pleadingly like she wants a reason to trust you again.
You smile at her reassuringly, “I made you get out of Camelot safety, then you found Aithusa, and you got out of that damned pit Sarrum stuck you in.”
Morgana looked at you in amazement.
“That was you?”
You nod and smile, “Morgana… I can’t agree with what you’ve done. Trying to overthrow Merlin and Arthur as the kings… I can’t support that.”
You step closer, “But I still love you and want to be with you.”
The brunette looks at you with tears in her eyes.
“Yes… I want that too.”
You smile and gently kiss your love.
—Years Later—
It been several years since Morgana kidnapped you and you two became a couple again. You had sent Camelot a letter telling Arthur, Merlin, Gwen, and the knights that you were going away with Morgana to try to help her get better. You would only return with Morgana. Morgana sent her own letter with yours asking for forgiveness and that she would hope to return and see her brother and his lover one day.
Arthur and Merlin responded as quickly as they could saying that the dark magic Morgana had been practicing was still outlawed and she was still a criminal, but if the time ever came where Morgana would be welcomed back, they would tell them.
A month ago, you had received a letter from the kings once again, saying they would meet you and Morgana and see if she was safe now. You and Morgana wrote back that you would make the journey to Camelot. Today was the day of arrival, and you could feel the nerves coming off of Morgana. She stood outside the city, looking at the castle which once was her entire life.
You grabbed her hand, and as she turned to look at you, you gave her your best smile. She smiles back and says, “Well, I guess it’s time, right?”
“Yeah, I guess it is,” you kiss her and know everything will work out.
