The setting in LIMBO is different for everyone, well, for the most of it at least:
Phiaira see's it as if the galaxy and the planets switched spots. Walking on space, while looking at bushes drift in the sky. Of course it's still a forest so she see's tree's and ponds, but all of which has kind of a space-y texture.
Angel sees it more grim and threatening. It's very dark for her and everything feels alive, in the wrong way. This is one of the reasons why she tends to stay with the others in the group. Also why she doesn't move when she's by herself. Of course, there are some lit places. But Angel has learned for experience that those places lead to trouble.
Olly does not see the forest in any special or normal way. He see's it as a blank space with outlines of things that can block his path. It's just really boring. But his helmet allows him to see through the perspective of others. Letting him enjoy the different looks upon LIMBO to 'some extent.' (cannot see Angel's lights, Phiaira's perspective gets to bright for him to see, and Erin's missing chunks are filled with things Olly does not wish to tell)
Erin see's LIMBO like what he remembers of forest from his memory, which isn't a lot. Tree's can faintly be seen and there are missing places where something would be. During LIMBO as Erin searches for Friend, he starts regaining his memories, and those missing places get filled in.
