there's something interesting between hong lu and the xianren, in relation to interpretations of allegorical incest between hong lu and jia mu/ the elders.

hong lus jade functions as a lock, chaining hong lu to the elders so that they may vicariously live through him. think of how they violated his sense of privacy, and how constantly being watched/ being a watcher causes hong lu to feel so alienated, terrified.

melancholy and ennui overtake him as he describes feeling how moments and feelings are taken from him, decay and die. things seeming monochrome or desaturated is actually common visual language of emotional dissociation and detachment.

I'm projecting somewhat of course, but his character is very poignant and powerful to me for this reason. this is all without speaking of the subtext of sexual abuse/violence in the bird incident.

the fact that (at least many) of hong lu's ego corrosions include wounds or openings similar to those he saw is to me really meaningful representation of how this trauma has affected HL's body-awareness.

* Like some of the other sinners her yandere version isn’t too different from her normal self

* She’ll still have the same harsh attitude she normally has but her words and insults will be more personal and they’ll cut deep

* Unlike some of the other sinners however she would know that what she was doing was wrong

* She simply doesn’t seem to care after everything she’s been through she thinks she deserves you

* You really should be grateful for her protection though since nobody else would be able to protect you like she can of course

* After all, …all she ever wanted was a purpose and without Ahab or Limbus Company her purpose would simply be you… and you have no choice but to go along with it

* Lest she break down your confidence and independence even more

* She’ll never even have to lay a hand on you… her words are enough

Yandere Sinclair Headcanons

* We’ve already seen that he can be prone to violent outbursts, as a yandere those would be intensified and more frequent

* He would also 100% guilt trip you into staying with him

* After all he’s already lost his family, he wouldn’t survive without you, would you really leave him to die?

* He knows to a certain degree that what he’s doing isn’t right, …but he can’t be alone again even if it means scaring you into staying with him

* And maybe threatening you…

* If he did ever harm you though, he would immediately apologize… and then make you out to be the villain for trying to “abandon” him

* He would never have hurt you if you just stayed by his side willingly… so your injuries are your fault to him

* And thus the cycle loops again

Yandere Hong Lu Headcanons

* Already has a history of being somewhat ignorant of normal social constructs this would make him one of the few yanderes who truly doesn’t see anything wrong with what they’re doing

* He was raised wealthy so he was used to getting whatever he wanted presumably

* And if he wanted you then he would have you

* No you don’t get a say in the matter

* Will mentally torment you into staying with him

* He also somehow knows where you are at all times…

* Has a sadistic glee to him whenever he “catches” you

* This is all a game of cat and mouse to him after all

* Overall not the worst yandere and as long as you don’t try to escape you’ll get whatever you want…

limbus company sinner arc analyses/predictions based on their associated tarot cards HERE WE GO

sinner nine-- the hermit

rodya could get separated from limbus company, possibly in the outskirts, sea of mirror worlds, or something like that. shed be accompanied by sonya who's been turned into some sort of light entity (related to the golden boughs or the sign, naturally). the light carried by the hermit is a focal point in most in most adaptations of the card.

sinner twelve-- the hanged man

outis will have to, or already has sacrifice/ed herself in some way or might in particular kill a bunch of clones/replications of herself (suitors like in the end of the odyssey. dante is their dog.). the "dying god" is a theme in this card.

sinner thirteen-- death

gregor "dies". to speak optimistically, this may mean he metamorphizes into his final form, and the old gregor is gone forever. like how cocooning larvae etc. dissolve inside of the shells. he'll probably be a giant insect with the sign (wouldnt it be funny if rodya's second tboy friend also had the sign?). huge butterlyfly maybe. or maybe a kaiju, like tyranitar.

Pt4 of Limbus Speed Dating?

Ishmael

You awoke the next morning still sore from the amount of walking you had done the night before, only to walk out and be met with with an angry looking Heathcliff and a disappointed looking Ishmael and Charon. “The rest of the names disappeared from Charon’s hat this morning” she said as Vergilius stared daggers into Heathcliff. “So the last three sinners will pick straws” Charon said, “damn it” Heathcliff muttered, “what was that Heathcliff, do you have something you’d like to share with the rest of us…” Vergilius said threateningly, quickly causing Heathcliff to go silent. The remaining three sinners then gathered around Charon to pick a straw, shortest had to take you out next, you then noticed Ishmael sported a very bashful look as you saw her straw and looked to the others, “whatever let’s just get this over with” she said quickly as her face reddened. “Meursault I think it’d be best if you headed back to your quarters” Vergilius said “I need to have a word with Heathcliff… alone” you heard him say as you and Ishmael stepped off the bus… you didn’t even need to turn around to picture the terrified expression on Heathcliff’s face. Although you did notice Ishmael sported a rather satisfied look, “serves him right” she says under her breath… you decide not to ask. “So where are we headed” you asked Ishmael, “…hmm your in a pretty chipper mood… don’t expect me to do whatever the others had though” she retorted angrily, her face quickly reddening. What did she think the others had done…? You wondered to yourself as Ishmael stopped at a small stand buying two ice cream cones before hurriedly shoving one into your hands “here” she said quietly, “thank you Ishmael” you replied happily, this seemed to improve her mood a bit, as you followed her to the edge of the railing on the peer. “So do you want to talk about your time out at sea or something” you said trying to start up a conversation with the quiet redhead, “your seriously going to ask me that after all we’ve just been through” she said emotionlessly, …good point you thought. “Besides I kinda wanna finish this up quickly” “if we get back soon enough we may be able to catch the end of Heathcliff’s punishment” she said with a smirk, “ISHMAEL” you said horrified. Your words however left her unperturbed… you spent the rest of the “date” silently staring off into the ocean… and a considerable distance away from Ishmael. The two of you then made your way back to the bus where Heathcliff was nowhere to be found, much to Ishmael’s dismay… you simply decide to make your way back to your room as you still had one more “date” for the day.

Meursault

You however would be disturbed only a few hours later when Charon and Meursault came knocking on your door. “Meursault has volunteered to go next as his planned destination has time restraints” she stated. You looked up to Meursault “yes we can only attend at night” he said curtly …where exactly did he plan to take you? You figured the robotic seeming man would simply take you out to some restaurant but it seemed he had other plans as you reluctantly followed him off the bus and to an upscale part of town. The two of you would then approach a loud building with a bouncer …it seemed Meursault knew the guy. Although come to think of it you did remember something about him dancing a lot in his youth. Your thought’s would promptly be cut off however as the blaring music filled your non-existent ears, you could barely hear yourself think as you watched Meursault head to the dance floor before gesturing for you to follow him. You would then spend the rest of the night dancing while noticing a few snickers being thrown your way… no doubt at your pathetic excuse for dancing but you decided to ignore them. You then practically had to be carried back to the bus as you were throughly exhausted once again, you however were able to make your way back to your room with the help of Meursault.

Heathcliff

You left your quarters the next morning to see Heathcliff sitting on the floor, “oi, clockhead your finally up” you looked down at him questioningly “well it’s time to get this over with” he said standing and grabbing your arm to lead you off the bus. The blinding light of the early morning filled your non-existent eyes as you were dragged along somewhere. You would finally be let go of in front of an old looking building… it seemed to be the cities library. You looked at Heathcliff in confusion “Ishmael said this was a good place to go on a date and stuff…” he trailed off, oh dear… you thought to yourself. Ishmael’s intentions definitely hasn’t been good and you could only hope Heathcliff wouldn’t start some sort of scene… lest he be punished again. You walked inside to be greeted with silence and the smell of old books. “So are we just supposed to like look at the books or something” Heathcliff asked rather loudly earning him a stern look from the librarian, he seemed annoyed by that and quickly walked into one of the other sections of the library with you in tow. He picked out a book randomly, it seemed to be some sort of romance novel “do you like books like that” you asked him, “of course not” he said angrily putting the book away. “So what kinds books do you like” you asked again trying to start up some sort of quiet conversation, “…none of them” he responded. You spent the rest of your “date” following Heathcliff around the library as he looked around at the titles but never picked any of them up …you had the feeling he was just trying to pass time so it could look like he did something to Vergilius, you didn’t mention that thought though. “Hey I know we didn’t do much but I enjoyed getting to hang out with you” you said, “yeah whatever don’t make it weird” he replied as you left the library to head back to the bus.

Pt 1 of Limbus Speed Dating?

Rodion

Vergilius took Charon’s hat and dropped a bunch of folded up pieces of paper in it as the sinners watched awkwardly waiting to know if they would be forced to be the first to try and woo you. You noticed Outis looked especially excited… only for Rodya’s name to be drawn much to Outis’s dismay. Rodion perked up “well this’ll be an easy win for sure” she exclaimed, “this isn’t a competition” you heard Gregor say from somewhere in the back of the bus, was it not a competition though?

You quickly tried to keep pace with Rodion who had her grip tightly around your hand and was leading you in the direction of a popular fried chicken place, of course you thought to yourself. Rodya started to talk about all the different flavors she wanted to try “Dante Dante they just released a new limited time spicy wings special for the new year we so have to try it and…” you had tuned her out as the sounds of city and a lonely street musician caught your attention. “Ah right” she said before dropping a small clock keychain into your hands, “what’s this” you asked? “Aha it’s a gift of course”! She said happily “pretty sure it’s customary to get your date a gift n’ stuff”. You got a bit flustered at the mention of it being a date but quickly regained composure as you two entered the restaurant. Rodya had ordered enough food for all the sinners combined, you wondered if Vergilius was paying for all these “dates” and started thinking of all the ways this was going to go wrong, as you only slightly acknowledged Rodya’s idle gossip. Once Rodya had finished you both started walking outside and in the direction of Mephistopheles, Rodion lightly tugged on your arm signaling for you to stop and face her outside of the restaurant “hey Dante I know you weren’t paying attention to me much but it was nice getting to hang out with you n’ stuff without all the other guy’s” she said before trying to place a quick peck on your clock face… however you were faster and quickly ran in the opposite direction as you heard Rodion yelling behind you “Dante the bus is the other way”!

Hong Lu

Leaving your bus quarters early the next morning to get absolutely no work done you were met with Hong Lu’s usual mischievous smile and a small piece of paper in his hands. “Looks like it’s our turn Dante” he said. You looked at him with a stern smile “did you just pick your name out of Charon’s hat when she wasn’t looking” you asked? Hong Lu faked a scandalized look and quickly returned to his normal smile “I would never” he giggled as you followed him off the bus and into the city’s boardwalk area. It seemed he had made a reservation at an expensive brunch place the night before, confirming your suspicions that he had not obtained his name from the hat randomly, you however decided not to bring it up. As you looked through the menu gawking at their prices, Hong Lu talked about how his family used to frequent the place when he was a child, while he casually slid a box across the table. You looked at the small box in front of you, it seemed Rodion hadn’t been the only one to bring a gift, opening it you were shocked to find an expensive looking watch inside. Was he trying to buy you’re favor? It wasn’t a competition… you think at least? Before you could chide him he interrupted “It was really interesting getting to eat at all those peasant restaurants I never got to taste food comparable to plastic before although I’m sure the rest of you have gotten used to it by now” …there was definitely an insult there but Hong Lu continued to look at you with pure innocence and intrigue his usual mischievous smile replaced with a more genuine one for once. He continued to recount memories from his childhood as you two ate until it was near the end of brunch hour and the two of you decided to take your leave. As you walked out of the restaurant you made sure to keep your distance just in case Hong Lu tried to pull a trick like Rodion had the night before, however he made no move to close the distance instead he simply flashed his usual mischievous grin and scurried off in the direction of the city leaving you confused as you made your way back to the bus alone.

Gregor

It seemed like Vergilius decided to have a bit of sympathy for once and spared you a few hours before he gathered you and all the sinners into the main area of the bus excluding Rodion and Hong Lu of course. “Well it seems like we’re one name shorter then last nights count so… we’ll simply move ahead with the names remaining” and there it was… well hopefully Hong Lu wouldn’t be punished too severely for this. Charon then picked out a piece of paper unceremoniously and quickly walked down the bus to find a peacefully napping Gregor. “So where too” you asked Gregor as you stepped off the bus? “Ah I dunno I’m sure there’s a pub or maybe a bar or something around here” he replied. You two walked in silence until a shady looking dive bar came into view “eh I’m sure it’ll do” Gregor remarked, as you two found the staircase entrance leading down into the underground area. Gregor bought the both of you a few beers as he chatted away idly “you know Manager Bud I always wondered how your able to eat and drink without a mouth on that clockhead of yours” he said, you had often times found yourself wondering about that too but alas your ever persistent thoughts of such questions never seemed to wield any sort of answers. After a few hours of drinks and idle chit chat the two of you drunkenly stumble out of the dive bar. With the alcohol getting rid of your sense of shame and normal polite attitude you decided to ask Gregor if he had gotten you any sort of gift like the other sinners had. “Manager bud go easy on this old man’s wallet…” he said as you two somehow managed to make your way back to the bus where the rest of the sinners had a good laugh at the two of you and your drunken state.

Yandere Drabbles for Ishmael, Sinclair, and Hong Lu

(Note: Hong Lu’s part is on hold until his canto)

Introduction

The feeling of the boat quickly turning into a bus was definitely jarring but at least you were on solid ground once again, all the sinners had seemed to be in better spirits with the change too… well aside from Heathcliff but you knew he was preparing for something so you left him alone to join Ishmael at the back of the bus who was in the middle of glaring at Hong Lu and Sinclair the former of which was teasing Sinclair for the small bird keychain he carried around “my sister gave it to me” Sinclair said, quick to defend his trinket while Hong Lu continued his innocent verbal assault “aww that’s so cute you must’ve loved her a lot” he retorted much to the embarrassment of Sinclair. Ishmael meanwhile seemed incredibly unamused “could you both stop acting like children for once” she said annoyed. At this Sinclair snatched his keychain out of Hong Lu’s hand “Don’t… touch my stuff again” he said in a low tone surprising the three of you as he walked back to his Quarters. Hong Lu then flashed a wicked smile “if I knew I could get such a fun reaction out of him I would’ve taken that ridiculous keychain ages ago” he said, as you were throughly disturbed by both of their words. Ishmael then headed to the back quarters of the bus seemingly tired of the petty conversation, you decided to follow suit when an odd thought crossed your mind, you had seen just how cruel Ishmael had gotten during her “turn” out on the seas… especially when she had been reunited with Ahab against her will. That got you wondering, you knew all the sinners were far from good people and they have easily maimed each other and bystanders without a second thought… but surely they wouldn’t act like that around the people they actually loved would they? Well it is your job as their manager to bring out the best in them of course! …But sometimes you wondered… these thoughts continued as you fell asleep.

Ishmael

You “awoke” to the familiar feeling of swaying you had gotten accustomed to in the past few weeks, the unfamiliar feeling beside you however was more daunting. “Cmon how about you get up and try to make yourself useful for once” the voice said while getting up, causing you fall out of the sheets in terror… and that’s when you realized it wasn’t you’re bed. You had fallen onto a weathered wooden floor much different from the cold metal floor of your bus quarters “Ishmael where are we” you asked horrified. “Where we’ve always been Dante” she returned coldly before walking out, you promptly followed to find yourself on a ship… with a familiar looking crew. A well built women approached you “Ishmael’s partner nice to see you out of room” she exclaimed much to your confusion. “Partner” you said in shock as you walked off to find Ishmael again, a relatively easy task on a ship. “Ishmael” you yelled as you caught up to her “where the hell are we” “where are the others” you asked as you started to freak out. “What do you mean Dante” “this is where you’ve always been…by my side” “after all it’s not like you’d survive anywhere else without me” she said cruelly. You froze unable to comprehend the situation you were currently in “Dante your doing it again” Ishmael said, …you didn’t respond “I think it’s time for you to go back to your room” she said while grabbing your arm and dragging you back in the direction of your “room” however you would never make it back as you quickly drifted out of conciseness.

Sinclair

It seemed you were back on a bed however it wasn’t yours once again, this one was much plumper then the last with a thick duvet and silk sheets though. You looked around the large room, there were expensive looking paintings adorning the walls and busts of prosthetic heads on the nightstands. Opposite the bed were two heavy doors however trying to open them proved useless, you were locked in. “Sorry but Master Sinclair said we’re to keep you in there until he sends for you” a women’s voice calls out from the other side of them door. Master Sinclair… you were very confused as you tried to question the person on the other side of the door, however you quickly remembered they wouldn’t be able to understand your tick tocking. So you resigned yourself to inspecting the rest of the room… to which you then noticed that the room lacked any windows. You spent what only felt like a few minutes continuing to investigate the room when the doors swung open to reveal a few women with prosthetic heads and maid uniforms “it’s time for dinner Master Dante” one of them proclaimed as you were then dragged out of your room and to what appeared to be a large dining hall. You noticed Sinclair sitting at the other end of the long table however as he saw you he quickly stood up and walked down until he was on the left chair closest to the end seat which you were soon placed into. He seemed elated at your confused and docile state as you questioned him. “There’s no reason to be worried about any of that…” he stammered out “here…” he then said while raising a fork to your mouth… you hadn’t even noticed that a plate had appeared in front of you. You reeled back in embarrassment which caused him to pale and start hyperventilating “are you still scared of me… it wasn’t my fault… you tried to run… you tried to abandon me…” he said starting to convulse as you were pulled from you’re seat by the maids. “Wait” you tried to protest as you watched Sinclair violently try to push off the maids as they were trying to help him. “I think it’s time you return to you’re room Master Dante” one of them said “don’t worry Master Sinclair will join you shortly” another said at your obvious worry for the blond. However as you were dragged back through the extravagant halls you once again felt that familiar wave of light headed-ness as you drifted out of consciousness.

At last you had finally woken up and you had never been so grateful to be met with your bus quarters, had you had a mouth you may have kissed the cold metal floor. However you would soon be interrupted by a voice at your door.

(Note: I couldn’t decide on a traumatic or happy ending so you can all have both)

Traumatic Ending:

Ishmael called out from the other side of the door “Dante you’ve been in there for hours it’s 2pm, Vergilius wants you out now” you didn’t respond… 4 hours later you’re door would be opened by Charon as the rest of the sinners looked in to find their dutiful manager pitifully cowering in the corner “stay away” you screeched out as you backed further away into you’re corner. “Do you think we broke them or something…”Sinclair asked as you started tearing up. You couldn’t let them become like that… no it would be all your fault if that happened… you then spent the next few days avoiding Ishmael, Sinclair, and Hong Lu much to their confusion and worry.

Happy Ending:

Ishmael called out from the other side of the door “Dante you’ve been in there for hours it’s 2pm, Vergilius wants you out now” you had never been so happy to hear you’re Ishmael as you swung the door open to have her look at you in confusion before you grabbed her and pulled her into a tight hug… much to her chagrin “Hey” she shouted “what’s gotten into you Dante” “let me go” her shouts had attracted the attention of the other sinners as they entered the back of the bus in concern. “Oh dear… are we interrupting something” Hong Lu asked before you ran over and pulled him into a hug as he giggled “my my… someone’s definitely happy to see us today”. You then looked around to find the blond you had wanted, he however had noticed you’re focus and quickly tried to run in the opposite direction… but you were faster, you scooped him up from behind and nuzzled your clockhead against his hair as he went limp, his face red as a tomato. “Oi, what’s gotten into clockhead this morning” Heathcliff asked. The rest of the sinners however didn’t have any good answers for him. You wouldn’t tell them anything either but you would also never allow your sinners to become like that… it was your duty as their manager after all… you’d make sure of it.

Pt3 of Limbus Speed Dating?

Yi Sang

After your odd flower shop “date” with Faust you were given your usual few hours of respite before Charon came to collect you for the second daily sinner draw. The remaining half of the sinners had finally seemed to become more relaxed after seeing the examples those before them had set. Charon then once again plucked a name from her hat and promptly called for Yi Sang to come to the front which he did silently. “Well it looks like you’re up” you said trying to motivate him somewhat, he however remained blank faced. “So… I am to take you to an appropriate location for a date I presume” he asked, “well we can really just go anywhere you’d like it doesn’t have to be anywhere specific” you responded quickly. “I see…” he trailed off as he walked off the bus with you in tow. You followed him to a large building, it seemed to be an art museum of sorts. After he had payed for your tickets he then walked back over to you to interlock his arm with yours before leading you inside. Yi Sang had continued to remain silent for most of the “date” while the two of you wandered around the museum looking at the different pieces they had on display, you had noticed however that he had taken a few short glances at you multiple times, you suppose he was trying to gauge your interest in his chosen location. “It seems there aren’t many museums in this city” you said trying to start up some sort of conversation with your “date”. “Yes… this was one of the few I could find on the map Charon gave out” it seemed he had given some thought to your expected time together, he gave a faint smile at your realization. The rest of your time at the museum together was spent in complete silence, however Yi Sang had seemed to become a bit happier although he hid it well. As you two exited and prepared to head in the direction of the bus he stopped you and handed you a small clock charm, “I found it at a pawn shop… I hope you don’t mind… it probably isn’t as extravagant as the other gifts you’ve received…” he trailed off again but you interrupted “no no it’s lovely” you reassured him drawing a faint smile out of him once again. You returned to your quarters to add the charm to your ever growing collection of gifts, thankfully none of the sinners had gotten you anything too ridiculous which was an unexpected surprise, save for Outis of course, …but alas you still had 5 more sinners to go which left a lot of room for something to go terribly wrong… as per usual.

Ryoshu

You awoke the next morning to find that you’re thoughts had sadly been correct, as Ryoshu stood outside your door with a piece of paper in her hands “I got tired of waiting, time to get this over with” she said, causing you to start sweating as she led you back to her room. She had laid out some cooking ingredients… and a large assortment of knives, you considered running out while you still had the chance as you thought back to her “cooking” a while ago during her cookoff with Gregor, …you could still taste the bile in your mouth. How many times would she stab you if you tried to run… you thought to yourself, you knew she wouldn’t kill you but she certainly wouldn’t have any qualms about putting a few non-lethal holes in you either, so you reluctantly stood your ground. A decision you immediately regretted as she started cooking with what looked to be whale oil… if that stuff killed you would Vergilius or the sinners even be able to find your body… your anxiety ridden thoughts continued to distract you until Ryoshu unceremoniously dropped a plate in front you with a bored expression. The plate had a black mass on it… it seemed to be completely charred and reeked of burnt meat. You had no idea if it was even safe for consumption but Ryoshu’s icy glare forced you to reluctantly take a bite… you had to force down the urge to vomit as Ryoshu continued to stare coldly, you did your best to give her a thumbs up as you couldn’t bare to open your mouth. She smirked cruelly at you before packing the leftovers and telling you to scram, an order you happily followed as you grabbed the box and ran back towards your room where you barely managed to reach your bathroom in time to regurgitate the contents of your stomach. The questionable “leftovers” would then be promptly thrown into a toxic waste bin.

Don Quixote

With your stomach still reeling from it’s torturous “meal” earlier in the day you reluctantly made your way to the front of the bus where Charon handed you a piece of paper with directions, it seems your sinner was already waiting for you at a planned destination. Luckily the blinding lights of the carnival weren’t too hard to spot in the darkness of the night, nor was the lumpy figure approaching you, upon closer inspection it seemed to be a pile of plushies moving on two stubby legs, “BEHOLD MANAGER-ESQUIRE THE SPOILS OF MY VICTORIES” a loud voice proudly proclaimed before the pile of plushies was promptly dumped onto you. As you looked over your newly acquired collection you were finally able to see the beaming short haired blond in front you. She then grabbed your arm and rushed towards the entrance of the carnival “Come now manager-esquire we mustn’t waste any of our time together” she said excitedly as you were pulled along with her. As you looked up towards the carnival rides your stomach turned once again still in shock from your “breakfast” in the morning and you silently prayed that Don wouldn’t take an interest in them. Thankfully she seemed more intrigued by the carnival games although it seems she had already won at quite a few… “Worry not manager-esquire for I shall double thou’s boon before the night ends” she said before making her way over to a water gun game stand. Oh dear… you thought to yourself as you tried to find something to carry around all the plushies you had been gifted. After purchasing a wheeled cart you quickly to returned to find Don with another pile of plushies which she then dropped into your newly acquired cart… thankfully you had planned ahead and gotten a larger one just in case. You then spent the rest of night running after Don and pulling an ever heavier growing cart, with the night finally coming to a close when the two of you stopped at a churros stand where you watched Don eat as you still couldn’t bare to stomach any food. “Aww how hast the time past so quickly” she said sadly, “we see each other everyday…” you trailed off but Don still seemed teary eyed as you comforted her while leading her back to the bus. You moved aside the slightly wilted bouquets and portraits of yourself to make room for your newly acquired plushie collection, your quarters seemed more lively then ever.
