lil part of my collection
Finally had the energy to redo my hair today; I'm going to try dying my hair myself in between bleach appointments, since it's $70 to $90 every time I visit her. Picked this stuff up from Sally's last weekend. It was the only pink that wasn't so damned bright it was basically neon.
Two whole hours later (according to its own directions "for a more vibrant color"), and I'm honestly not terribly impressed by this stuff. I should have expected the results I got when I saw it was a hair "tint". But it was the only pink they had that I liked, and was similar to what I wanted. Unfortunately I got little to no color payoff.
My hair definitely looks better, mind you. But it's still orange, and not pink. The orange fadeout from the last pink I had in just looks a little more intentional now, rather than being all faded and gross.
It honestly reminds me of the old Manic Panic dyes I used to use in High School. Roughly the same quality of goop, too. And just as overpriced for the payout you get; actually I think Manic Panic still worked slightly better than this to a point. But this is supposed to be a "tint" so that's probably why.
I can't imagine, though, that you'd have to be anything less than full on Platinum Blonde to actually get the correct color shown on the box- for all the box says it works fine on non-platinum hair.
ETA: After letting the color settle in overnight, it's come out a lot better than it initially looked. So I'm not as unhappy with it as I initially was. Apparently it just takes a minute to work fully.
