Tequila Mockingbird
I made this drink because I thought the ingredients sounded interesting together. I only said the name out loud later, and was slightly amused.
1. One of the multiple ways to make this drink:
3/4 oz green Creme de menthe
1 oz lime juice
2 oz. tequila
Dekupyer green Creme de Menthe, Pampa lime juice, and Milagro tequila. You're supposed to put a lime slice in, but I didn't. I'll get back to creative garnishes, but not quite yet.
2. Here is the picture from online:
I want to be where they are! This looks more like a cocktail than mine does. What is that? Sea green? Lovely. Gotta love Crayola color identification.
Here's mine:
I'm pretty  impressed with my color. It's very sciency looking, like it should be in a flask.
Does anyone remember Gak? This looks like Gak. How do you spell Gak? Or maybe like liquid emerald! Except if someone tried to turn an emerald into a liquid and failed and made Gak.
3. It's like a sweet lime! Very lime. There's too much lime in this recipe. I thought one ounce looked like a lot. At first I liked the mint aftertaste. Then I realized combining mint and lime tastes terrible. It tastes kind of like gross gum. Mint gum covered in terrible.
4. Perfect time to drink:
She had waited for her wedding day her whole life. Maybe that's what blinded her to Harry's obvious faults. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with him, really--he just wasn't right for her. He always wanted to be touching her, and she felt stifled when he came close. She wasn't sure if he'd be happy without her or not. She used to pretend that was why she cared. Now she wasn't sure.
Still, everyone was in town for the wedding, Â and she had always tried to be good. She didn't want to hurt him. She was on her way to the dressing room after smoking the third cigarette in her life when she saw Harry yelling at the ringbearer about spilling milk on his shirt. She realized she was about to make a huge mistake, and that he was a dick.
She knew no one would understand. She had to have him dump her, or she'd be ostracized. She drank a Tequila Mockingbird, making sure to get some on her lips.
She walked down the aisle, heart beating. What if her plan didn't work? She went through the wedding as though in a dream.
"You may now kiss the bride." They kissed, and he reared up suddenly as though he'd been slapped. The acidic lime turned his lips to a grimace.Â
"How dare you!" She screamed, and went into fake hysterics. The breakup went smoothly.
Then as she went home, she realized by the time they had kissed they'd already been married. If she'd kissed him at the beginning of the service, that would have been the perfect time to drink.
