Fir got Dahlia (mion’s real name) to make Snookies for the cult. dahlia insists that Fir came up with the name, she just did what her sibling asked and doesn’t want them getting hurt because they wanted to join a bunch of kids in the woods hunting down a ghost monster thing.

Figured I should do a post with Lime’s proper colours and a little background info and everything in the ahit ‘coffee shop au’ by @doodledrawsthings.

One of the older members of the Snatcher Cult (or Snult), they’re 17 and technically about 5′3″, I just need to work on my scaling. In their own words, they’re a natural-born sidekick - they played at being Lance’s squire as a kid, and now they’re having fun helping out in the Snult, including doing coffee/hot chocolate runs if asked to and keeping an eye on the younger kids. They’re also one of the ones making Snatcher cult clothes and costumes for other members (as well as themself). Mostly they’re here to have fun. Their drink of choice from The Horizon coffee shop is the sugariest thing whoever’s working the counter is willing to serve them.

They always have a backpack with them and, amongst random stuff, it contains their cell phone, wallet, a small sewing kit and scissors, spare pens, and a night safety vest in silver and yellow (their moms don’t mind about them wandering around after dark as long as they wear it and have their cell phone charged and on). They really like green, but are also quite fond of purple, fortunately enough.

They/them pronouns at the moment while they’re figuring themselves out, currently willing to accept whatever pronouns people use for them but introduce themselves as a they if asked. Will eventually settle on they/them/she/her when older.

“Over here, milord!”

Lance looked to the bleachers as the rest of the team headed for the locker room, spotted a hand waving through the benches, and sighed. “Be there in a minute, Coach.”

“Just don’t take too long, Mordred.”

Jogging over, he ducked under to find Lime stitching away at a familiar bundle of purple. “…you’re making the kids new ponchos already?”

“Nope, modifying the ones they already have,” they held up the one in question to show off the strip of yellow reflective tape now partially sewn around the mouth of the hood, “Gotta make sure we’re being a safe cult, after all. That’s why I wanted to talk to you, actually – I need your cape for a bit, can’t have the leader setting a bad example for the rest of the subconites!”

“That’s… actually a good idea,” he admitted, sitting down next to his friend in the shade of the bleachers, “I’m kinda surprised.”

“Really?” Lime peered at him with one eye from behind their hair, “Renny’s ideas are usually pretty solid, he’s a smart guy.”

“…oh.”

“Wait, did you think this was my idea?”

“Well…”

“Milord!”

“Hey-!”

“I have never had a sensible idea in my life and I never will!”

“Come on, Lime!”

“Fiiiiiiine,” they rolled their eye at him, then grinned, “Anyway, don’t worry, I did think ahead – I got silver for your cape instead of yellow, it’ll match better. Works more with the knight aesthetic, too.”

“Thanks.” He paused, “Not that I really should be thanking you for dragging me into a cult and training every kid in town to call me ‘Milord Lance.’”

“To be fair, the second bit was unintentional, and the first bit you mostly did yourself.”

“I did not-”

“Renny told me about food club.”

“Look, we all have dreams, Lime.”

“Yeah, but not all of us have dreams that get us instated as heads of cults.”

“Yeah, well- well not all of us are grounded from having existential crises!”

“Urk!” his friend blushed, then folded their arms, embarrassed, “It’s not my fault gender, humanity, and the question of what it means to be sentient are so confusing.”

“You started ranting in the middle of homeroom.”

“Ugh!” they flopped against his shoulder, sulking, “You’re the worst.”

“You’re getting cult all over my football sweat.”

“Suffer,” they grumped, but sat up again. “So, you’ll get your cape to me before the next meeting?”

“Yeah, sure,” he glanced over in the direction of the locker room, “If you wanna keep talking, you’ll have to come with, I really need to shower off.”

“Okay,” they started packing up the ponchos and sewing supplies into their backpack, “It is really nice that you’re helping the kids out like this, though, they’re having a lot of fun.”

He groaned as they started walking. “Why were they so insistent on me being in charge, anyway – you’re the one who actually wants to be there, why don’t you do it?!”

Lime paused and actually pushed their hair out of the way so they could look at him with both eyes. “Because you’re the one they want for their leader, not me. Besides, I only officially joined after you did, you found out first.”

“Well, what if I- I don’t know- abdicated in your favour or something?!”

That got him a laugh in response and the curtain of bright green hair dropped back in place. “And they say you’re smarter than me – they follow you because you make them feel safe. They’re a bunch of kids going off to do spooky stuff in the woods in the dark, you think they’d feel half as safe without reliable Sir Lance there to fight off any monsters we might actually come across? And you do it without spoiling the fun, do you know how hard it is to be a likeable authority figure? And you just do it, without even thinking! It’s just like when we were kids and I decided I was your squire, you’re just… fun to follow.”

“Oh.” He fidgeted with his helmet. That sounded… kind of nice, actually. Not what he’d expected. “Then what are you joining in for? Do you think Snatcher’s actually… you know. Real?”

“Dunno,” they shrugged, “It’d be kind of neat if it is. Mostly though I’m just enjoying myself. Remember those costumes our moms made us when we were little? Most of the subconites aren’t lucky enough to have moms who can sew, like we do, and costumes are half the fun! Plus, don’t you just love that cult aesthetic? Maximum spook and maximum comfort all in one!” they grinned for a moment, then looked at their hands again, “And we’re teenagers now. We’re not gonna get the chance to do stuff like this much longer, so why not enjoy that we’re not quite grown-ups while we still can? And get a chance to be the cool teens for some kids while we’re at it?”

“I guess…”

“And anyway, there’s over a dozen of them now – someone has to help you keep an eye on them all, it’s not like they’re gonna leave you alone at this point,” they shot him a grin, “And it might as well be me! Plus, this’ll get me closer to getting voted ‘most likely to become a cryptid’ when I graduate.”

“I’d vote for you if I wasn’t graduating first. And if it was a real category.”

“I know you would.”

The two of them made it the rest of the way to the locker room door in comfortable silence, and Lance heaved a breath when they got there. “…okay, I’ll keep coming for now. But you’re on clean-up duty at the next meeting, Squire Lime.”

“Well I never-! I’m telling my union head, you see if I don’t!”

“Go ahead – we both know Renny likes me better.”

“This is nepotism!” they cheerfully protested. “So, you’ll get your cape to me?”

“I’ll drop it off after supper.”

“Great, see you then!”

They headed off with a wave, and Lance waved back before heading in to take a shower.

Pretty sure Lime’s some kind of theatre kid, but the sort who works in costumes and set as opposed to being an actor. Definitely still dramatic enough for it, though!

Renny belongs to @pokeninjager-ghost-art and is pretty much Lance’s little brother in every way that matters, not to mention seems to have the valuable quality of ‘functioning brain cells’. He’s a cool character, and he’s important to Lance, so I wanted to give him a mention.

Lance’s popularity with the kids is based on how all of us who run into him here on tumblr seem to just fall in love with him and want to have our OCs hang out with him, myself included. He is a good, loveable boy!

Last thing, when I was in 8th grade, some kids actually asked me to lead a seance for them in a haunted house (with the owner’s permission), on the grounds that they were too scared to do it without me, and I’m seeing Lance having a similar roll in the Snatcher Cult (or Snult).

“I packed supplies and EVERYTHING, Boss!”

Lime’s supplies consist of: three nice rocks, some leaves, a Snatcher seal from a discarded contract (piece of contract on back still attached), and a first aid kit (two needles, a spool of black thread, and subconite-sized scissors). Lime is very well prepared for any adventure they should come across, there probably isn’t a thing in the world they couldn’t handle when they’re so thoroughly prepared!

@mindboogling SubconKnight/Lance is just too adorable, and the thought of another subconite tagging along occasionally to play ‘squire’ to his antics was cute, Lime probably isn’t even the only one who does this.

The worst thing about people who knew you growing up is that they know your weak points, like how you wanted to be a real, live knight when you were a kid and wore the cape your mom made you everywhere until you outgrew it. About a year younger than @mindboogling‘s Lance/SubconKnight, Lime contains all the enthusiasm for the Snatcher Cult that he lacks, but is fortunately plenty willing to help him run herd on the kids. Is honestly more in this for the look and getting to make cool cult outfits than anything else. (Boy needs another older teenager helping him out with all these kids, might as well be someone who’s his trusty squire in another reality)

Lime: will enable your coffee habit with the right motivation. Also thinks that Timmy has a real future in chemistry some day if they can already make stuff that turns your hair permanently green, wow!

Another bit set in @doodledrawsthings‘s ahit ‘coffee shop au,’ also featuring @abunnydreamingofkisses‘s own adorable Fir (complete with a snookie)! Lime has no magic or knowledge of magic themself other than this unwitting brush with it, and everyone in town is probably under the impression that they’re just really good at keeping their roots touched up since they started dying their hair three years ago.

Dialogue under cut for those who find my hand-writing illegible and can’t make it big enough to read:

Fir, holding snatcher cookie in both hands: Hey, Lime, how’d you get your hair green like that?

Lime, leaning back on both hands: Well...

Lime, holding up vial of suspiciously green liquid: And this’ll make my hair green?

Timmy, drinking an illicit coffee and more focused on that than on Lime: Yup, just follow the instructions to the letter.

Lime: Oooooo~

Lime, holding one hand up and smiling cheerfully: And my hair’s been green ever since!

Fir, munching on cookie: Neat!

Lime, suddenly serious: That was three years ago.

After seeing some wonderful subconite OCs, including @mindboogling‘s darling SubconKnight and @kittykatzvillage‘s adorable Frill, I wanted to make one of my own! They’re very easy to get ahold of, just ask for the green one.

Having a bit of trouble settling on a name - the obvious choice is ‘Green,’ but... that’s my actual, irl nickname, and they’re not meant to be a self-insert, so... (shrugs)

Actually, you know what, immediately going back on the above statement, everyone meet Lime!
