Falling down that cave had been one of the worst mistakes of your life. The monsters surrounding you now seem friendly- but there's something unsettling about how much they care for you, how you're always being watched and guided along long and narrow maze like hallways. All you know is that you can't bring yourself to look into their eyes, their voices already luring enough, who knows what might happen if you look- so just keep your head low friend, and hope you'll be home soon.
--------
LiminalTale- where the underground is much larger and plunged into darkness ever since Toriel left. There is no Core to this place, just impossibly long hallways with windows to peer out into the dark abyss, you don't know whats out there but sometimes the shadows move and play tricks with your eyes.
Well, the Underground is sort of a hive mind, and with the queen gone, they'd to anything to plead for her return, so she gives them a trial. If they can keep any creature safe and alive for one year down here, by themselves, then she'd bring light back to the underground and return.
That proves to be a bigger challenge than anyone thought.
Sans is tasked by the queen to monitor a creatures HP- and if theyre harmed even a decimal then they failed and would have to wait for the next arrival whether is be human or animal.
Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys and Sans are tasked by Asgore to form a group, the main group and they call themselves the "Safety Committee." The Safety Committee is to protect who Toriel sends their way- and keep anything from harming them. That doesn't deter the corrupted monsters and entities outside those halls from trying to get to them though.
All hope seemed lost when Frisk was sent through, a clumsy little kid. The Safety Committee put on a smile and dared to lure the child in deeper, frustrated with them and their noncompliance- it would be a lot easier if the child were to give in and look.
Yet they didn't and the day came where the monsters weren't able to protect Frisk- they got harmed and once done, it was like a light had been switched. The entites wandered off while the Safety Committee watched in dissapointment and frustration as Frisk got a small slice on their hand... well. They were no use to the monsters any longer. When Frisk fell asleep that night- Sans made their death quick and painless.
Then. Everything reset.
Sans was confused, it hadn't even been a moment and suddenly he was stood and walking behind the group, slowing down as he realized where they were in the darkened hallway, barely lit up by flames that had once been Grillby. Had it been a dream? Or something more... and he soon found out as they came across Frisk at the Queen's doors... Sans had found an out.
He was so unsure at first- but Frisk seemed just as confused. One thing led to another and Frisk got hurt again- Sans, feeling clammy, wonders if this is the end this time but once again. Things reset. Over and over and Sans hates it, hates he can't keep a small child alive, hates he has to be the one to kill them over and over again. He loves the rush of knowing it'll reset and they have infinite amount of time to get this right.
LiminalTale- Where monsters always have a smile on their face and are always keeping an eye on you, for safety. You can try to go home, but should you? When *you* don't exist anymore?
Never fear, the underground monsters have ways of making you feel right. At. Home. :)
If you can get past the sound of static in the dark caves, the way you feel yourself being watched, or the fact that the monsters here seem to know every little detail about you- this might not be so bad! Just don't look into their eyes, you might just slip away.

Anyways new AU drop, I got so inspired by the Welcome Home artwork, the color and the soft eyes and mouths gave me such an uncanny but happy feeling, and well to come from it, is this. A Liminal AU where everythings just a little too good and you're beginning to feel like you're not exactly real.
I'll color this later, at some point, I just wanted to get the idea out there.
i am very lazy atm ;v; also, fuck them stairs 🥲
Some LiminalTale Sans and Papyrus facial expressions
Your safety is their top priority...
"Nice to see you 'gain friend. It's okay, you can look at me."
Everythings still a little blurry when you look
So you made me fall in love with liminaltale and now muffet. Could you give us some random facts about liminaltale muffet please? 🙏
😭💜 Sure! I'd imagine Liminal Muffet's spiders is how all the underground monsters keep tabs on things, the spiders sticking to the ceilings, out of sight, always watching and crawling around. Since they don't have cameras underground, word by mouth is the best they've got going for them. It's efficient, and monsters can communicate with the spiders bit by bit.
Muffet herself is a busy woman, she doesn't stay in one place and roams around, setting up shop in different halls, keeping tabs and leaving behind webbed blankets and pillows for monsters to take if they need it. She and Liminal Papyrus get along well, both secretly helping the corrupted monsters outside the halls, they both understand them better as Muffet has a temper and looses herself often, but is able to come back from corruption.
So, Muffet keeps to herself to not be found out, and keeps to herself so she doesn't accidentally harm anyone if she ever looses herself, since monsters corrupt when they get angry or feel too negatively.
She puts up a fairy good front though, all sweet and charming, bright eyes, glossed over and twitching. She smells like spider cider, still able to make that at least, and she usually had a cup on hand to keep herself calm and relaxed when she roams the halls. You'll know if she's near by the smell of cider and the faster scurrying of spiders.
