A Limit Quickly Reached

I apologize for the delay in relaying my first movie choice! A sick computer-less person makes for a poor blogger!

My first film is Vertical Limit, and it has a fitting title, indeed. I hit my limit about 30 minutes in. This flick is 15 years old but it’s not the dated graphics that will sway you from enjoying this film: It’s the abundance of conflicts. Conflicts between characters, a plenty, and conflicts with the mountain galore. You need explosions? It had plenty. But wait, there is more… (sorry, a slight patronage to my little mermaid fans). Nitroglycerin related explosions, multiple avalanches, giant holes, snow storms… This flick had it all, except, of course, a limit. Beyond its inordinate and awkward array of events, this film lacked an appropriate theme. Does it suggest that some lives are more important than others, especially family? Or does it suggest that in times of great danger, sacrifices must be made for the benefit of the majority - “1 must die for 2 to live”. The latter opinion, although specifically stated multiple times, was refuted by the main event, the rescue mission. In all, a multiple person group went up the mountain where all but 1 died. And a 6 person rescue mission was survived by 2. That’s a pretty high death count.

I love chicken; therefore, chicken will be the subject of my rating scale! I give this movie two tasty chicken strips out of ten. Two was probably a little high, but I admit that at first, I was hooked… It obviously didn’t last.
