(via GIPHY) My favorite youth-centered movie, Our Times. I don’t think any other youth drama has made me feel this way. It was more than just a love story. Its themes, while cliche did not feel cringey and I loved how these two help each other in the best ways possible.

Our Times (2015)

Saw a Facebook post likening this movie to Crazy Little Thing Called Love so I thought, why not.

Lin Truly is an inconspicuous high schooler who receives a chain mail cursing the recipient if they don't forward it to 3 other people. She sends one to their school bully, Hsu Taiyu. Hsu Taiyu finds out that Lin Truly is the one who sent him the cursed letter, and makes her run errands for him as "punishment" but also puts her under his protection. Thus begins an unlikely friendship between two very different characters.

This movie did not disappoint, if you're into troublemaker guy characters who turn out to be soft hearted, as well as timid girl characters who are headstrong and undergo a transformation as the movie progresses, then this one's for you. This movie has just the right combination of comedy, romance, action, and drama, and will leave you yearning for your first love.

Another reason to love Taiwan (apart from milk tea and their assertion of their independence as a country).
