I forgot to mention this on Tumblr before, but I got a new press! You might remember that I have a Morgan Sign Printing Company Write-A-Sign show card press, but I added a small Line-O-Scribe to my studio in June.

Everything was gross with decades of grime, grease, and ink, but a few days of hard work, plenty of WD-40, and a heat gun, the press is refurbished and the ink plate is clean and removable as intended. The ink plate was seriously gross and took forever to get the goop in between the glass and the base to separate. 

The smaller size made it a lot easier to understand how the axles should be tightened and aligned, which meant I could readjust the other press to run smoother.

All I need is to get my hands on some old quoins and a key and I’ll be in business to print on this new press. Looking forward to use this for linoleum blocks and the lead & wood type I have since the other press isn’t lead type high.

Something older from this summer: when I first got my bigger Line-O-Scribe set up after I moved into my current place, this was the first thing I printed. 

All the copywriters at the agency are remote and they had come in for a workshop session or team bonding or something like that!!! and I made a little card for everyone for their WFH setup. 

Because I love giving people souvenirs.

I've got a restoration project! This is probably a Line-O-Scribe show card writer. However it has no brand name on it that I've found yet. I'm going to take the whole thing apart and clean/de-rust and grease it up when I find some free time. ...possibly going to paint it a real snazzy color. 😎

The IBRC recently had this Line-O-Scribe model1422 donated to the shop. That first image is from a catalog from the 50′s, so I’m guessing this press is from around that time (can a person use the serial # for this brand of press and actually find the date it was made?). I spent the weekend cleaning the shit out of it, and finally got to pull a quick proof on it! It’s such a cool little press, and I’m interested to see how the original rollers work when I lock something up that is larger. 

I bought that ridiculous cigarette advertisement plate a while back, and I love it even though I don’t smoke.
