Decided to post updates to the @auspiciousitems bot here on my personal account. Front end:

I've been working on a tumblr theme just for the bot! It's almost there functionally, buuuuut I now need to make some illustrations for the card backs, posts, and other little bits for the theme.

Backend:

I didn't think about the fact that hashtags don't work inside of posts on Tumblr or Bluesky, so I removed them from the JSON grammar. Now the Python script applies hashtags based on post content and destination platform:

Soooooooo I rebooted my old Twitter bot that has been dead since 2023 when the API changed and I abandoned the dumpsterfire that site became.

Yes it's a bot. But no it's not a slop bot. Instead it's a silly little toy that uses a script that uses a bunch of words I threw together in different buckets so it madlibs its way into a post based on some preset patterns.

The new one is @auspiciousitems on Tumblr, but I'm also running it on BlueSky with the same handle. I've lost the tab somewhere in a million windows, but you can find it somewhere on git. Original bot ran on Cheap Bots Done Quick which also died along with the API 3 years ago, buuuut you can see a Wayback Machine snapshot of the old grammar here. (PS thanks  Kate Compton and v buckenham for making the original one possible.)

Idk if anyone else likes to see color coded After Effects or Premiere screenshots, but here you go hahah.

Anyway this was the first time I did perspective and warp for a curved surface and it's not the worst. I'll get better at at. Maybe next time I should make a gridded image to distort and then just replace the footage with the actual thing???

Long time no see. Work has been busy, but I've still been making stuff. Threads became the place to talk at the void because I gave up on Twitter.

Now I'm working on a new portfolio and website (fixing my old one) and then once that's done, I'll pull content from Twitter and put it on my site so I can purge that account.

Website is pain, but fun to implement the new visual identity I worked on over the summer. Made a few GIFs for it and maybe I'll make more. Tryna make sure whoever whoever wants to hire me knows I'm a lil' weird.

Anyway, I'll work on sharing what I've been up to and maybe I should move to having posts from IG get sent to here. idk. idk.

And speaking of Threads. Here’s a very important hotdog cat I drew on my phone in response to a Tumblr prompt.

There was some meme on Threads where you stick your bio into Midjourney, DALL•E, etc and post the results. It took generating over 40 images to get a few that were sort of close, so I drew something more accurate.
