Help I got emotionally attached to colored shapes again
The last time this happened was when with the game Thomas Was Alone but that had text and story arcs and platforming. This time it's puzzles and lines
I got emotionally invested in fucking colored lines
I picked up LineLight because it looked like a simple little puzzle game I could pick up and put down on a whim without needing to plan time for it. And it's a charming little game. You are a line of light and you can travel on a different line to go solve little self contained puzzles all while a delightful soundtrack plays
There are other colors of lines too. Some move on their own. Some copy you. But you usually stick to one kind of new line per world. Then, after you have solved the puzzles, you go on a journey with one of those new lines. The journey puzzles are more like helping each other keep going forward up until you get to the end, the music swells, and you part ways
Then, a gentle song plays as you reach the end of your line, enter the light, and the stage ends
And damn it if I didn't form an emotional bond with those fucking lines. They were my friends. We went on such a journey together. All those puzzles we solved. It was such a sad moment when you saw the turn away and knew that this was goodbye
Godspeed red line
Hey Everyone - I did another review! The text from YouTube is below ^_^
Linelight is a refreshingly inventive, minimalist puzzle-adventure game. It takes the wildly simple premise of "What if everything takes place in the first dimension?" and rockets it into outer space.
There’s no jump button. There’s no shoot button. The way you move creates a universe of possibilities and one mind-bending experience.
Guide Dash across the game’s rich, clean, and relaxing worlds; Linelight simulates the experience of getting an A+ on an exceptionally hard test while receiving a back massage.

i am such a sucker for music that does a gradual temp change like this. it adds an essence of physicality to it. like the music machine is starting up from a stop and getting up to speed.
