Lovecraft died before the world saw the first atomic bombs used against Imperial Japan. Albert Einstein had warned FDR that Hitler and the Nazis were developing a nuclear bomb and suggested that America should move to produce one first. Einstein would later regret his advice. In several of Lovecraft's tales the idea that all humankind is threatened by terrifying 'cosmic forces' is suggested. For the first time in history we are living under a constant threat of total annihilation. The era of Lovecraft has arrived! ( Exhibit 208)
