Some wasei-eigo terms are not recognizable as English words in English-speaking countries; one example is sukinshippu (スキンシップ, "skinship"), which refers to physical contact between close friends or loved ones and appears to be a portmanteau of skin and kinship.

Recorded as early as 1966 by the OED; probably a calque of Japanese スキンシップ (sukinshippu), itself a pseudo-anglicism recorded to date back to at least 1955, or Korean 스킨십 (seukinsip) (1971 or older). In Japanese, this form was also observed in the Latin script as early as 1955.[1]

Yes.

A lot of the time when we talk about languages in Latin, we use “lingua” (ae, f – language) with an adjective to describe what language it is, like Latina, Graeca, Iaponica, Italica, Francogallica, and, yes, Anglica. Therefore “lingua Anglica” means “the English language”; sometimes the “lingua” part is clearly implied and you can just use the word “Anglica” on its own. The adjectives can also be used to describe things other than “lingua”, obviously, but that’s not really relevant to your question.

By the way, there are also adverbs related to these words that are sometimes used instead, like Latine, Graece, Iaponice, Italice, Francogallice, and Anglice. So “Anglice” literally means something like “Englishly” or, in how it’s used, “in English”.

Eg. Hoc responsum in lingua Anglica (with long a’s!) scripsi.

Hoc responsum Anglice scripsi.
