as much as I am (obviously) biased towards Barry on the matters of the whole Barry vs Wally debate, my opinion still firmly remains "WTF guys they're family you can have two Flashes at the same time you don't need to depower Barry or banish Wally from existence to have one more in focus as the main character"
(ENSEMBLE CASTS ARE A THING GUYS)
-Linguist, who is kinda annoyed by the fact that this is still divisive
hypothetical reader: are there any characters in this fic who aren't disabled?
me: if Marvin has any disabilities, it's never stated in the text. and considering that he's lucky to get a name instead of being "bus passenger #2", he's definitely not a major character. he is a named extra. his wife Melinda(bus passenger #1) has more characterization, and she doesn't have a name yet (outside my docs).
hypothetical reader: okay so that's two named extras-
me: nope, Melinda's missing an arm.
hypothetical reader: okay but Wally-
me: Wally has ADHD, he's just not physically disabled
hypothetical reader: isn't it unrealistic to have so many disabled people
me: it's equally unrealistic to expect that a bunch of people have been hunting monsters for years and no one's suffered a disabling injury. or that disabled people just won't be able to keep fighting monsters.
hypothetical reader: is there any major character who isn't really disabled
me: I suppose you could argue that Guy's facial scarring isn't really a disability beyond some mild pain and inability to eat acidic foods, since facial differences really only fall under the category of disability because people stare and point like you're a circus animal.
me: But in today's society, he is absolutely disabled, and pretending like it isn't is kind of... well either commit to a society entirely without stigma of facial difference or acknowledge it's a disability
hypothetical reader: but it's unrealistic for a blind person to-
me: it's harder for a blind person to do stuff. most of that is because society was designed with the assumption that everyone interacting with everything must be fully sighted. not because of the actual blindness.
me: name any skill, name any profession, and there is a blind person who can do it. it might take a bit longer and require some expensive refitting or software, but that is the fault of a society that does not design its technology with the full range of human experience and ability in mind.
me: also, before you ask: no, you are not entitled to my medical history
hypothetical reader: why is everyone Canadian
me: because I don't want to write Americans and inevitably mess up the minor details of living in a country I've never been to
me: occasionally, once in a blue moon, Americans try to write Canadians, and they inevitably get it all wrong(cough cough *driving from Toronto to Newfoundland in two hours, zero mention of a ferry anywhere*)
me: I don't want to do that to any American readers
me: and besides, people need exposure to additional cultural perspectives instead of just the Theme Park Version of their home country

a short list of things you are probably already doing that count as resistance:
reblogging posts by marginalized people(or putting them in your queue)
not harassing people online
being openly yourself on the internet
existing in public as a marginalized person
posting your opinions as a marginalized person
having hobbies
being happy
doing research on marginalized people
apologizing for your mistakes and mis-steps
writing about your own experiences
not being a complete and utter ass to people
a reminder that being openly yourself, even if it's only online, is resistance enough.
a reminder that simply existing as yourself, even if no one knows, is resistance enough.
some people physically can't contribute. not everyone has to be an activist. and that's okay.
as long as you aren't making the world actively worse? you are doing great.
international nonbinary people's day today everyone celebrate
Hollywood Hacking: rapid typing into a command line, big display with a progress button, firewall program with visual display that gets burned away by application of other programs
Real Hacking: "Hi, [manager 2's name] this is [manager 1's name], I'm at [real tech convention] and I'm demonstrating [device] to a customer, but I forgot the password. (pause for manager 2 to talk) Oh, you're a lifesaver!" [logs into device with provided admin password]
Mxyzptlk. Hard to spell, a bit tricky to pronounce- wait what, that long string of consonant clusters with only one vowel is completely unpronouncable?
*laughs in Ukrainian* oh you fools, you English speaking monolingual fools!
you don't need to add vowels to Mxyzptlk, there's a vowel right there! it's even a vowel sound found in English(not that that's a high bar, English has too many vowels).
and "ptlk" is perfectly pronouncable, you just need to change your tongue positioning properly.
