The first thing that Link notices when he comes to is the throbbing ache in his head, the blood that trickles from his head is next, and when he blinks and clears his vision, he sees Sheik leaning over with him with a concerned look.

"Wha-?" At first, confusion crosses his features at Sheik's question but then he quickly realizes why it is being said. Because Sheik's afraid he'll end up with another case of Link doesn't have his memory.

He shifts to press his hands to the ground so that he can push himself up to a sitting position. When he looks around, he sees many monsters having been slaughtered. Both by him and Sheik by the looks of it.

Head turns to look in the direction of a rock - he must have been slammed against it by one monster. His head still throbs and when he brings his hand up to the spot that throbs, he winces.

Bringing his hand back down he tries to brush the blood off on his tunic and then turns his gaze back to Sheik. He wants to reach out and cup his cheek but he's afraid of getting blood on him, "Yes. I'm Link and you're Sheik. I'm okay, Sheik. Just hit my head but my memories are here."

It hurts. Everything about it hurts. He’s trying not to let Zelda see the pain he’s in, trying not to let her see that she’s injured but of course she sees right through it. Ganon has risen once more, bringing chaos and whole new slew of monsters to the world and Link had been severely unprepared this time around. If he had known this would happen, if he had known monsters were going to invade Hyrule Town in what seems to be armies, he would have been better prepared.

Buildings destroyed, people died. He’d saved everyone he could, got as many people to shelter, but even the Hero of Time has his moments where he can not face an literal army. They’ll be back, he thinks. This is not the time to dwell on his injuries.

However, she insists. She isn’t going to let this go now that they are safe and the blood that seeps through his tunic isn’t doing him any favors. A hiss escapes from clenched teeth, agony within blue eyes as he looks at Zelda. He opens his mouth to say he’s alright, to not worry, but the look on her face tells him to shut it.

“It’s not as bad as it looks.” He settles on saying instead of denying there’s a problem. Hard to deny what is right in front of him. A spear had pierced him, he’s lucky to be alive, he thinks. 

Grabbing the bottom of his tunic, he slowly lifts it up and over torn flesh, hissing as fabric slides over the wound, agitating it further. “I just.....I just need healing potions.”

Parties are not Link’s thing, he always feels so out of place at them, like he doesn’t belong. It doesn’t help that they all know him, that many turn their attention to him - Zelda is used to the attention, he is not. He may be the Hero of Time but he has not spent a lifetime in the public eye like she has.

Thankfully, Zelda spots him in no time and it’s a relief because she is the one he is here for and she is the one who makes him feel at ease at get togethers like this. A small smile curls the corners of his lips upwards and the eyes that are watching go completely ignored - all that matters right now is the Princess.

“I feel...odd. I’m not used to this.” Dressing up, looking like he fits in at a party, he much rather go back and change into his typical attire but he’d wanted to belong for once instead of feel like some outsider. It doesn’t work, he still feels like an outsider.

With the weather as cold as it is out right now, there is nowhere for the two of them to go. Their journey had been cut short and they'd had to take shelter. Unfortunately, the only shelter nearby had been an abandoned house.

Link had done what he could to get the room warm. There's a small fire started in the fireplace but it doesn't quite feel enough. Not with the constant downpour of snowflakes outside.

If they lay together, then they should be able to provide each other warmth so after a moment, Link stands up from the fireplace to look around. Luckily, he finds a blanket to lay down on the ground before offering his hand to Zelda to help her onto the ground.

"We can get warm by cuddling up." He explains, though he feels it's pretty obvious. If she is comfortable with the idea - if she isn't, he will not push. Thankfully, she doesn't seem to be willing to argue with him.

So, soon, they're settled on the floor, staring out the window. He moves as close to her as he can, wrapping his arms around her to pull her against his chest so that she can get as much of his body heat as he can possibly provide. He hopes she'll be able to warm up soon.

"Of course." Link answers with a nod of his head and a determination in his eyes. Whatever it is Sidon wants to teach him, he is more than willing to listen and learn. The Zorra is skilled in what he does, Link is honored to learn from him. "Teach me."

Sheik has always been so attentive that Link is not surprised when the man draws him a bath, insisting that he's cold and he needs to warm up after working outside for who knows how long.

Link thinks it's just an excuse to take care of him and how can he refuse him, really? He likes how attention Sheik can be, he only hopes it's not done out of guilt or obligation.

When he's settled in the bath and Sheik turns around to leave, Link is quick to grab ahold of his wrist to stop him from leaving. "Join me." The request isn't so much a request as it is a warning before Link tugs on Sheik to drag him, clothes and all, into the tub in one quick motion.

@sapientiiae​ gets a plotted starter from Wendigo!Link

It has been a few days since the Wendigo had first seen the princess. The kind soul who had treated him with such kindness and allowed him to eat his monster in peace. Well, she’d spent some time with him but she hadn’t thrown rocks at him or called him a monster or anything of the sort.

She’d promised she’d be back to visit him but Link isn’t counting on it. Maybe she changed her mind, maybe she does think he a monster, or maybe the guards had warned her off the creature that feeds on human flesh - he’s only ever eaten humans when they attack him.

He can be found lurking around the castle walls, out of sight of the guards, hoping that Zelda will once again find her way to him. He visits every day before he gives up. This time, it has paid off, because he sees her soon enough.

“Princess.” It is perhaps the first time he’s spoken to her and he sounds....human. Completely and utterly human. This time he is not snarling, he does not have food to be territorial over and a tiny part of him trusts her. Not completely but a little. “You came back.”
