I have two ideas for Linko prompts:
1.) Their wedding day.
2.) Them going a nice vacation filled will laughter, relaxationxl, and steamy nights.
That's all.
I'm going to combine both these prompts for fun and see what comes off of it.
Nobody found it odd, or even suspicious that both, the Chief of Police and her second in command were taking the same fourteen days off during the summer. Whether or not these days off were work-related was insignificant. Those who knew that there was something cooking, knew, but those that didn't, didn't even know there was a pot on the stove.
The day started early, just as any, as Lin tossed the last of her bags into their private compartment of the train. Mako joined in beside her, bringing along two cups of coffee from the dining compartment next to theirs.
"Finally, relaxation for the next eight hours." She plonked herself on the make-shift sleeping berth.
Mako placed the coffees in the cupholders beside the table and sat down next to where Lin was laying. He placed one hand on her face, his thumb gently caressing her pink cheeks courtesy of the sun. He smiled unconsciously as she stretched herself lazily.
"What's so funny?" She asked when her eyes opened to his grinning face.
"Marry me." He blurted out.
"What-"
"Really. Marry me right here, right now and this trip becomes our honeymoon!"
The train started moving now, albeit slower than the speed of thoughts running through Lin's mind.
"Mako, how? The papers and the-"
"I have the papers ready with me," He was practically shaking from his nerves as he scrambled through his backpack, frantically searching for a certain file. He pulled it out roughly but made sure he didn't damage anything in the process.
"Here," He opened to the page in question, "We just need a witness while you sign it- but lucky for us we have a train full of people, and- look, it's all ready and dated and stamped and attested and-"
Lin was sitting up in her seat by now. She placed her hands on his shoulders in an attempt to ground him and pulled him down to sit beside her, "Hey. Calm down. What's going on here?"
"I love you," He panted.
"And I love you," She smiled and cupped his cheek with one hand.
"I planned this trip because I wanted to propose. And I got the papers ready, because what better way," He almost laughed as he pulled Lin closer to him by the waist, "What's a ring going to do that some well done paperwork won't?"
"Did I say that?" Lin caught his laugh.
"Yeah- my hardest day on the job. You were telling me about how work won't always distract me from my flailing personal life, but sometimes, working for things has its own rewards."
"And that's when I said, 'What's a ring going to do that some well done paperwork won't?'" She seemed to remember off-handedly.
"And working for you has rewarded me in the best possible way- with someone as wonderful as you."
Lin seemed touched by the gesture. She pulled him in for the tiniest of kisses as she mostly just couldn't help but smile against him.
"So..?" He asked, pulling away slightly.
"Did you bring a pen?"
Mako's face fell, a pit in his stomach.
Lin smirked instead, pulling her engraved fountain pen from her pocket, "This is why I'm Chief."
"Chief owner of my heart," Mako cringed at his own corniness before pulling her into another kiss.
And just like that, the Chief of Police wedded her second in command on a sweaty summer day with the train's conductor serving as their witness. The newlyweds were beyond thrilled to spend the remnant of their vacation, now honeymoon, with laughter and relaxation. Lucky for them, the privacy of the compartment ensured the consummation of their marriage.
