Enola Holmes (2020)
Enola Holmes
Holy. Fucking. Shit. It was so good.
Loved Millie and Henry and Louis and Susan and Helena and Hattie and Frances and Burn and Sam and Fiona. All were great
Stand outs are obvious the leads, Millie and Louis, and Henry the sidekick
In a strange sort of way. I’m kind of alright with some people’s pleas for henrlock to break the pool cue over their heads (this is the clean version) cause it means they aren’t being inappropriate about Millie and Louis.
Or it means I’ve been fortunate enough to have bypassed it. In which case. Stop it. Leave them alone. They’re children. Leave them be.
I’m also kinda glad Watson wasn’t in it. Cause I know if he was most of the inbuilt fans left over from the bbc version would be gushing about “how obviously gay they are” and overanalysing every single second of screentime the two had to the detriment of Millie. Even if he was already married to Mary. So I’m very happy that didn’t happen. However
I’ve already seen people casting one of Henry’s costars from the Witcher as Watson. And in response I have my own fancast. Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie. And actual married couple. Who no doubt would have impeccable on screen chemistry.
Or. Perhaps Tewkesbury takes up writing in his spare time and starts a serialised biography of his new friends older brothers great adventures and publishes them in The Strand under the name JH Watson? Who knows? It’s an idea
Warstan, holmesbury, sherlolly > johnlock. In any incarnation. That is all
Normally I don’t like fictional portrayals of feminism cause I think they make it too overblown and too much an us vs them battle. But I like how the film handled the issue. Especially cause the opposition came in the form of both Mycroft and the dowager. So it made a nice change from having the problem be JUST men
Finally a teen movie I can actually watch because they don’t sexualise their kids at al whatsoever. Kind of the reason I’m gonna watch Julie and the Phantoms. Except this has a main straight romance and JATP has a main lgbt romance. So it’s quite nice they it sorta balanced out
I’m once again expressing my love for the novelty of watching a movie where Henry and Millie use their natural accents
That said. Jane Hopper is not gonna sound the same to me after this movie.
Also thinking about a Mileven EH au. I’m weak
I sort of wish Eudoria wasn’t fully forgiven for straight up abandoning her purported favourite child. Abandoning mothers need to get the same flack abandoning fathers get. I should like the sequel to expand on that really
Aside from the fact Sherlock is a fencer and a boxer. I like that this was a non action role for Henry. He’s been the action star for a decade now. Let the man rest
Did not like the fat jokes aimed at Enola. It seemed unnecessarily cruel. But if Millie and her mother, in their capacity as the producers were ok with it, then fine.
Iffy on the whole “Harrison lusting after Mycroft” gag. She was friends with Eudoria. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.
As always. I loved the fourth was breaks. More films should have them (looking at you descendants)
I’m certain there’s points I’m forgetting. But essentially. Enola Holmes is a great film and everyone should give it it’s rightful dues

Burn Gorman as Linthorn in “Enola Holmes”
“Who do you work for!?”
“England.”
Can we take a moment to appreciate that Linthorn recognized Enola, in that fancy red dress, as the 'boy' who jumped off the train with Tewkesbury? Cause that's actually really impressive.
Pine Cone Child - an Enola Holmes Fanfiction
Yes, I am back! And this Enola Holmes fic is uploading 2 a week.
Pine Cone Child is the Enola Holmes fanfic that is getting me back into writing after a horrendeous year. Some of you may have noticed I uploaded a new chapter to my Joker x Reader fanfic “The Man Who Claimed To Be Yours”. I’ll be finishing that, but probably in 2021. Pine Cone Child is a mature rated fanfic, mostly about Enola and her brother Sherlock pretending to be a married couple (his suggestion) to save Enola’s reputation and raise her child together. With angst, mature themes (check the warnings and the tags) light-hearted banter and lots of misunderstandings. Because Mycroft thinks the kid is truly theirs, Sherlock doesn’t quite know who the father is but for the fact that he is dead, Enola struggles with knowing she was the one who killed him, and Tewkesbury...well, he doesn’t seem to know anything yet at all..... Chapter 12 is up. (13 to follow friday or saturday). You can read the story on AO3, while I search for someone to make a fanart or fanedit cover for the tale.
