hot take: XDG is based specification, perfect and beautiful and sensible. LFH needs redoing
stuff like unified locations for user config files (and under a remappable name) is real smart. the inconsistent mess of (s)bin directories (now mostly symlinked) and the multiple other options for external software location is hell.
ik it's hard to change system-level stuff and it ultimately doesn't matter, but we could use a more modern filesystem layout
