last fedora update I did, completely fucked up my internet connectivity (between kernels!) and power utils (shutdown, reboot, etc) :/

the update prolly just got corrupted, since it froze, telling me not to shut it off, and I had to hard kill it.

luckily I kept notes of all the tweaks I've done while running it! so I'll just reinstall and be back to where I was in like a day 😌

  Okay new random Linux problem: I have a set of old Bose headphones, noise cancelling with a generic 2-insulating-ring stereo headphone jack. If I plug them in, and then unplug them, my computer shuts off. This doesn’t happen with my generic headphones, just these specific Bose headphones.

  To the best of my debugging ability, I’ve discovered that the boltd daemon, which manages Thunderbolt devices, is getting a signal from this disconnect and deciding to shut down the computer. Why it’s allowed to do this, I have no idea. There are a few possible fixes, but none have seemed quite right. I might install the power manager tlp cause someone suggested that could fix it.

  But anyways, yay weird Ubuntu bugs. Just gotta not use those headphones with this laptop anymore I guess, unless I’m willing to leave them plugged in until the end of the session.
