My grandmother had been trying for years to make me believe in the power of red lipstick and I was like, yeah, it’s cute enough. And then this morning, here I am, with a raging migraine, potato-pale face, eyes redder than Voldemort’s and hair that didn’t want to behave. I put the lipsick on so that I started to resemble a functioning human being. 

And yes, this is the day I receive three compliments on how nice I look.

Magical Reference Post for My Lipstick Shades & Lip Art

In general, when I put on lipstick art and enchant/feed it through tu-ob (coconut husk burning ritual) or by sending a quick prayer to the spirits of beauty, fashion, colour, technology, and femme-- I am automatically doing a spell for better expression and communication. The following associations are added on based on what colour and patterns I choose. I have only listed here the actual colours and patterns I have and commonly use-- feel free to add your own associations and lip art based on what you do.

Black: Protection, power, ancestors, the Dead.

Smoky Quartz Silver Chrome: Cleansing, grounding, and shielding.

Violet: Enhancing spell work, divination, and perception.

Amethyst: Balance, calm, and supporting sobriety/abstinence/asceticism.

Dark Purple: Gaining power from one’s trauma and managing one’s sadness and frustration.

Blue-Gray: Mental and emotional clarity.

Dark Blue: Knowledge, power, and inspiring a sense of authority and command.

Sapphire Blue: Enhancing wisdom and discovery of spiritual truth.

Pale Shimmering Blue: Gifting artistic and spiritual creativity.

Hot Pink: Passion, love, and joy.

Teal: Commitment, trust, and communication technologies.

Black & Red: Strength and attack.

Black & Silver: Re-charging.

Black & Violet: Clearer perception of the Dead and Spirits.

Violet/Amethyst/Purple & Silver: Strengthening the spiritual and energy bodies.

Blue & Silver: Healing energy and intention.

Black & Pink: Protection of one’s heart and loved ones; sending love to one’s ancestors.

Black & Teal: Protection of one’s technology and communication.

Silver & Pink: Sensing and perceiving the interconnectedness of all things.

Silver & Teal: Healing creative and communication blocks

Teal & Violet/Purple/Amethyst: Strengthening one’s connection to their spiritual tools and divination technology.

Line Patterns: Active energy and decisive actions.

Star Patterns: Connection to Upper Realms; transcendence; enhancing spellwork; cosmic energy; transformation.

Outlines: Increasing or adding shielding, protection, and containment.

Gradient Patterns: Transformation, transitions, shapeshifting.

Elemental Patterns (lightning streaks, dripping liquids, gem stone likenesses, etc): Invokes the powers and associations with that element.

Dot Patterns: New beginnings, the seed of things to come, silence before expression and action.

Lipstick Magick

Wine red/Maroon/Crimson: Powerful words, strength, queen/king-like beauty and power, cursing. Wear when you want to put a bite into your words.

Poppy Red/Scarlet/Bright Reds: Love, playfulness, draw attention, courage. Enchant these colors for when you have to give a presentation, or for love spells.

Rose Pink/Lighter Shades: Friendship, Love, peace. Enchant for maybe going out with friends, setting a dispute, etc.

Peach: (My personal favorite) Use this color in beauty and confidence spells, or anything requiring some bravery and/or emotional strength.

Purples/Violet/You get the Idea: Love, astral realm, psychic abilities, intelligence. Ladies- if you are like me and deal with men who frequently claim you are less intelligent because you are a woman, enchant a purple color.

Reddish-Brown: deceit. Idk how or why you would use this but its a common color so.

Black: protection, the otherworld, litterally anything you want really.
