I told you about this before but I finally started my replay of DA: O. Playing an elven mage, which is a good recipe to hate basically everyone.
RIGHT?? Surana (the elven mage Warden) is the Hero of Ferelden in my primary worldstate and they’re my favorite Warden and they’re just… so pissed off and so done with everything, lmao.
By the time they saved Ferelden, asked for Circle independence as a boon from Alistair, and became Warden-Commander at Vigil’s Keep, and people were still looking down on them for being an elf and a mage, they just wanted to like… burn everything to the ground and start over. (In DA2, Elthina will say that the Blight as only ended thanks to the Maker, and Hawke can tell her off and say that the Hero of Ferelden stopped the Blight, and Elthina will reply “even an elf can do the Maker’s work” or “even a mage can do the Maker’s work” and I just imagine Anders thinking ‘holy shit if Surana was here…’ tbh it probably wouldn’t be the first time Surana got thrown out of a Chantry for causing a disturbance.)
It’s also always funny to me bc like, my Surana was BFFs w/ Anders in Amaranthine. And in Awakening, Anders will agree w/ Wynne that pushing for Circle independence is a recipe for disaster, and meanwhile during that entire conversation Surana’s like “you’re both so wrong, I’m gonna scream”. (Surana also gets along very well w/ Justice and Velanna for obvious reasons.)
And then later Anders gets to Kirkwall and is like “yeahhhh, y’know, maybe we should burn everything to the ground and start over” and by the end of the game is like “yeah the Circle has failed us and it’s gotta go right now immediately” and I can’t help but wonder in that worldstate if Justice wasn’t the only one who rubbed off on Anders in Amaranthine, lmao.
