what is this ?
this is a project by the artist Lisa Solomon. in 2019 she was a resident at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. while there she started collecting stories. YOUR STORIES.
she is collecting these stories thru June 30, 2019. in particular she is looking for a memory that is solidly tied to a color[s] in your mind.
she is curious how we remember things. many of her own memories are distinctly tied to a specific color. color is pervasive and subjective.
quilts will be made from these stories and colors. this blog will document the process.
do you have story you want to tell her? she’d love to hear it. when you send her a story, she’ll send you parts of the color chart above so you can find a corresponding hex code. get in touch

Sun Basket's Holiday Gift to You
San Francisco based-mixed media artist Lisa Solomon created these holiday gift tags exclusively for Sun Basket and you. Just print, cut, and attach to your presents. These can be printed on standard printer paper, but for something more special try cardstock, linen paper, or even adhesive-backed sticker paper. Download the pdf from here.
SEN by Lisa Solomon
“I like leaving long threads as a tribute to the process. They often make me think of memory, of the passage of time… They will never lay exactly the same way… I also gravitate toward the dimensionality of them. They instantly pull a drawing off of the wall and force something flat into space.” ~ Lisa Solomon. A great article by Monique Delaunay. http://sfartenthusiast.com/2013/11/lisa-solomon-sen-at-fouladi-projects/
"SEN' Exhibition in the process of being installed.
Exhibition opens November 15th.
"Lisa’s art practice is an ongoing investigation of gender archetypes and hybridizations, as well as an examination into her own personal history. Through obsessive repetition and re-contextualization, she takes traditional feminine handicrafts and elevates them into the realm of fine art. For this exhibition, Lisa hones in on Japan’s historical and cultural fixation on the number 1000."
A beautiful new pieces by Lisa Solomon as part of her upcoming exhibition "Sen".
