“He what?” Colin has to move the phone away from his mouth for a moment as he brings a hand over it to control his breathing. His mind racing, thinking of all the scenarios under which such a thing would come to pass. His boss has mentioned visiting at the hospital so surely Gideon was still alive.
The realization brought little relief. Realizing he still has his boss on the line Colin returns the phone to his ear. “I-I mean, absolutely, sir. I’ll get on it immediately. Would you like me to reschedule as well or would you like to do that yourself at a later time?”
