Cleetus the Phantom Fetus is compromising blood flow to my kidneys, which makes them "think" that my whole body has low blood pressure. So they release hormones to increase blood pressure. This is a feedback loop for them, so unless the pressure in the renal (kidney) arteries increases, they will keep cranking out these hormones. Since the tumor is the one reducing blood flow, this will only drive my blood pressure sky-high. They're treating me with lisinopril, which is a type of drug that will help inhibit these hormones. It works by blocking an enzyme one of these hormones needs to work. It's a really common blood pressure med, and it would reduce blood pressure in anyone. My grandfather is on it in fact. Baseline (pre-Cleetus) BP: 94/60. Last Night: 171/114. This is hypertensive urgency, and it can damage many organs throughout the body including the heart, brain, eyes, lungs, and kidneys themselves Today: 136/88 So I'm still high but out of the danger zone. Surgery will fix this issue. So crisis averted!
