Howdy all! Long time no see. Here’s a list of some of my favorite fics written in the year 2017!

Wolves don't date humans. And Derek's okay with that. He's got his Pack, his friends in the Pack network, and lacrosse. Plus, he plays cards with his grandma all the time. Stiles Stilinski definitely doesn't factor into his life - no matter how much of a crush Derek has on him.

But when bird creatures attack Derek, Stiles, and their friends in the Preserve, Stiles finds out about werewolves and things get pretty complicated. For Derek at least. And he thought school was his only problem, but now he's grounded and Stiles is hanging around way too much for Derek to ignore him any longer.

His Camaro had gotten a flat and while he was attempting to change the tire on the side of the road, someone drove by and sent a wave of muddy water arcing, drenching him, and he was cold, muddy, and miserable.

Then, as he was sliding into the front seat after toweling off as best as he could, he felt something prickling on his arm and glanced down. Shaky, thin lines began appearing, little by little, and he could do no more than stare as the infamous phrase formed on his arm.

When Stiles was twenty-two, he had his heart broken when Derek chose his career over their relationship. A little over ten years later, they meet again on the set of a reality TV cooking competition. Derek wants a second chance, but Stiles isn't really in a forgiving mood.

A faery rises up out of a crack in the sidewalk, a hollow-boned twist of silver skin and empty eyes, and Derek almost swallows his tongue in shock, coming to an abrupt halt in the middle of the street. It’s not unusual, exactly, for monsters to walk the streets with humans – Derek should know, since being a werewolf isn’t exactly considered human, and that’s exactly what Derek is – but it is unusual for them to sprout up like a weed with little regard for who sees them do it.

It’s also unusual for them to stare right at Derek, one arm stretched out in front of them impatiently, something green caged in the confines of their spindly fingers.

Derek watches the creature leave, slightly stunned, and then hesitantly reads the note.

A smile pulls at Derek’s lips, but then he remembers Stiles isn’t here to tell him he’s brooding, might not ever be again. His smile drops and he clutches the mug a little tighter.

Derek will always do what he thinks is necessary to keep Stiles safe. Stiles will always fight him on it. They'll always come back together, even when it hurts, because it hurts more when they're apart. This is what Stiles hopes for. This is what Derek has promised.

Such a promising beginning to this WIP!:

Derek saves Stiles from bullies when they're kids and they become best friends.

Derek thinks Stiles is his mate. Stiles loves Derek more than anything in the world.

Derek leaves after his family is massacred. Will he ever come back? Will Stiles ever be able to forgive him?

Stiles assumes, and it gets the best of him. The relationship that he and Derek have built may be coming crumbling down around him. That is if Derek doesn't fall apart first.

Stiles is wiping down the counters and humming California Gurls to himself when the bell above the door chimes and Derek walks in. The next notes of the song get stuck in his throat and he freezes. Stiles shouldn’t be surprised, really. The rest of the pack have already been by to visit him, even Jackson. Of course, Scott was the only person Stiles ended up giving a free drink to, much to their disappointment.

Derek swaggers up to the counter Stiles is stationed behind, because that’s the only way Derek apparently knows how to walk. He’s wearing a maroon knitted sweater today that looks unfairly cozy. Stiles slaps his own hand down from reaching out and touching the fabric because that would be weird. Although slapping yourself might be weirder. Oh well.
