I can’t effectively express my disappointment in the women this season. But I’ll try to anyway. Spoilers for today’s episodes ahead.
Before Casa, Dana could not STOP herself from interrupting MC when she was having any remotely intriguing conversation with someone so she could have a “friend chat”. But now MC has been cheated on AGAIN, denied the opportunity to resolve it, and to top it all off, the woman her ex she was ready to propose to shows up and treats MC like she is somehow to blame??? MC could actually use a friend right about now! But Dana is off giggling and flirting and ignores MC completely.
I was very ready to team up with Gabi and commiserate over how we’d both been wronged, but somehow she’s mad at MC?
You brought up it up, girl! Sorry that you suck.
I’m a reasonable person, though. So I try to reach out like the gracious goddess that I am. And this is what I get.
And then there’s Arlo. She wouldn’t want to fade into the bitchy background, so she rises to the occasion as usual.
Thus concludes another week of disrespecting MC interrupted only by brief unimpressive, generic chat up lines by lackluster LIs. Once again supporting my hypothesis that FB is attempting to troll and punish us. Somebody write a rage fanfic rewrite, stat!!
What is up with this cast saying “maybe” and “probably” during their apologies to MC? Either you think you’re wrong or you don’t. Either commit to the apology or keep it. Arlo says she probably owes MC an apology if you choose to tell her about herself after she gets dumped. Meera says maybe she was too hard on MC if you call her out when she leaves. Kat acts like you’re pulling teeth when she apologizes for believing Nic/Jon. Alfie cracks a joke about kissing Kat if you talk to him after Casa Amor. Seriously, what is wrong with these pixel people?
There should have been two routes with Suresh. If you rejected him you could’ve been on the route they are now or ideally with the islander you grafted on the most. If you accepted Sureshs advances you should’ve been put on his route. But we all know Fusebox is too lazy nowadays to write more than one storyline. He was trying so hard to win us back & now it’s like we don’t exist. This is the Suresh & Gabi love story I feel like we’re the other women. Realistically Suresh should’ve been the one to defend us when Nicolas was attacking us. He does know us best. Also in what world would he marry Meera??

So, Arlo’s become a victim of the classic FB trope. Let’s make a black, female character a target for fandom hatred.
Firstly, her appearance. Images got leaked before her and Meera’s arrival but we barely knew a thing about either of them. We only got that little part at the end of episode 13 in which we learn their names, their occupations and who they have their eyes on.
Now, Meera was eyed up by two boys really, Alfie and Eddie. She’s also a model.
Arlo was eyed up by Suresh but interested in Dana too. She’s also a boxer AND a possible future LI.
So, we knew so little about them and yet there was hate and not to poor Meera but to (you guessed it) Arlo.
I’d seen countless digs at Arlo’s appearance comparing her to an animal, saying her eyes are weird, she’s cross-eyed, that she looks like she’ll be a snake. But not one nasty thing about Meera. And those people need to be asking themselves why they’re so willing to tear down a black, female character before we even got to know her? It’s looking kinda fucking gross.
As said before, you can look up future episode summaries on @mrsbsmooth page. But yeah, Arlo does continue to be a bit annoying and wind us up by being possessive and controlling. That old chestnut.
So the hate’s about to go into overdrive. I ask you now, think carefully about what you’re about to type and ask yourself:
Is that meme actually funny or is it kinda racist?
Is her appearance that way due to accurate ethnic features? (and again you’re kinda being racist being mean about them)
Are you treating Arlo the same as you would a white character?
