Needles of pain I need to outgrow
On a rainy, cold Scottish summer's day, I’ve built a nest home to shield me away, From the strong northern wind, Like cuddling with my cat in spring, Treading carefully on wet leaves, Squelching sounds - footsteps of reprieves, So I dream you up, You're all promise, my backup, In this frigid place I keep a little fire, I'm here like a bird on a wire, In a wee corner of Glasgow, Needles of pain I need to outgrow, I'm totally funny that way, Putting up a light sitting in the grey, Conjuring up a place, But down south where there is more grace, And a promise of a warm embrace.
