Warnings: fun, crack, Christmas fun, fluff, grumpy Dean
A little green tree ruined Dean’s mood.
The little green tree dangling from Baby’s rearview mirror was an offense to its owner.
“What’s this?” He looked over his shoulder at Sam, who tried to get some well-deserved sleep in the back seat. “Did you put that thing on my rearview mirror?”
“I did not touch your beloved car,” Sam grumbled. The lack of sleep made the hunter cranky, and the long drive ahead already stretched far too long for his liking.
Dean drummed his fingers impatiently on the steering wheel, the faint scent of artificial pine mixing with the lingering smell of fast food and dirty socks.
He glared at the air freshener, trying to find out who dared to put the offending little tree into his car.
Sam muttered from the backseat, “It wasn’t me, Dean. Maybe it was Y/N. She was nagging about the smell last week.”
“It wasn’t just the smell,” you replied with a shrug. “I wanted the car to look more festive. You refused to let me put Christmas decorations on the headboard.”
“Festive what? In my car? Not a chance!” Dean grunted next to you. “You can cheer anywhere but inside, my Baby.”
“Don’t act like you hate Christmas, Dean,” you shoot back with a wink. “You’re a little grump. The Christmas spirit might help you feel better. If you’re being a good boy, I have some candy canes for you.”
Dean grumbled, but a reluctant smile tugged at his plump lips. “UH—no. Thanks. Maybe someone else wants to ride around the country with the Christmas spirit in their trunk.”
“I packed homemade cookies, Deano,” you replied, opening your backpack to hand Dean one of the cookies shaped like Santa. “Have one, Grinch.”
Dean looked offended when he said, “I’m not the Grinch for hating stinking little trees!”
“Yeah, well. At least you’re less hairy,” you snickered.
“How do you want to know?” he asked, cocking his head. “Did you spy on me in the showers?” Dean gave you a lopsided grin. “I bet you did.”
“Dream on. We lived together and shared motel rooms for years. I saw more of your ass than any woman you banged.”
Sam snickered at your banter with his brother, easing the tension between you and Dean. “Can we drive home now, or do you want to make a fuss over the tree for much longer?”
“Fine.” Dean glanced at the little green tree one last time before starting the engine. If it made you happy, he’d let it stay for the ride.
