Deep dark and blinding light

Knitted into galaxies

Which were born into the

Blood belonging to my

Ancestors

A river of life,

A song

That sings now

Inside these veins

So full of strength

Whispering wilderness

A tempest of tenderness

Depth and divinity

Long lineage of healing

Hands & hearts

I am stronger and more resilient

Than any hell hound,

Any burial mound,

My fragile sounds

Have included the words:

“I need help.”

And once I spoke that truth

With no fear,

I finally began to BE HERE.

My voice still shakes

When I whisper:

“I belong here,”

Looking into the mirror,

I see the will to live

Growing inside my eyes.

A survival song

May be full of fragile sounds

& still give you goosebumps

While it rekindles what used

To warm your soul.
