I just want to say I've been following you since like the beginning of your daily/weekly/etc bird posts and to see your art over time is amazing. I just saw the macaw one and was like "OMG IT'S BEAUTIFUL" out loud and scared my cat. But yeah, basically your art is lovely and I have loved watching your style develop and change over time and can't wait to keep seeing your art

aaaaaa gosh, thank you. Parrots and macaws are some of the more difficult ones I find it is to draw, I’m so happy it came out right.

I really should change it from ‘day’ to ‘weekly’ now lol, but it’s been a challenge to keep this going for so long. It’s been over three years now and when I started drawing these birds I only intended to do this for a week or two. I know there’s several periods where I didn’t draw any birds, but now that I’ve worked out a system to get one done a week it works well.

It’s helped me improve with drawing everything else simply because it’s kept me going. If I didn’t start this when I did, I probably wouldn’t have gotten back into drawing cause I was losing steam at the time. It’s relaxing sometimes, stressful other times, and a lot of the time it’s the only thing I draw in a week but it’s better than nothing.

I don’t know how much longer I’ll keep this up and I don’t know what I’ll do with all of these pictures (363 of them so far!! I’ve got requests up to 366 and a list of personal ones to get through if I run out) once it’s done, maybe I’ll compile them into a book or something. I have no idea how to do that but it may be worth it.

I really appreciate hearing this, and seeing people’s reactions when I end up drawing a favorite of theirs makes all of this worth it.  Thank you for sticking with me for so long <3

I saw in one of your previous posts you said you'd be working on personal projects (which I totally get and hope that you've got some things you're working on that you really love!) but I was wondering if you have anywhere else that you post writing/talk about writing/etc that's not warriors related. I love your writing style and would love to continue to follow you if so. If not, good luck on your other projects! ^_^

The most I have is an art blog that rarely updates, but… you do have me thinking that I should put up a blog for personal stories/writing/worldbuilding and such. I don’t know if people would be interested, but it may benefit me and the stories to have it be out there and ready for critique/feedback. 

Maybe by the new year I’ll do that, if people are interested!

Basically, the cats’ territories are considered a casual (read: not technically official) nature reserve thanks to the unique natures of the animals and their communities. A few people are in charge of observing and making sure the cats are doing okay with as little human influence as possible. It’s actually a very helpful boost to the town’s local economy - people come in to see the weird cats and leave after having bought a ton of souvenirs. It’s an entirely local thing!

bluejay6: Oh, no, not really! All you’d have to do is come up with a nickname or just say “Whitefur of XClan”. The cats are used to prefixes coming and going in popularity, so the addition of a suffix wouldn’t bother them too much.

Anon #1: Well, if I was the writer, I wouldn’t make them have powers at all, just emphasized traits or skills. Lionblaze being a great fighter, Jayfeather being very insightful, etc. I’d definitely make Hollyleaf part of it, if I was to keep the powers. And if I had to keep the Dark Forest, I think I would make it more of an invisible influence - like someone hallucinates visions of evil cats telling them what to do or something similar. That or I’d just make them living cats who want the Clans dead. I do have some more thoughts on this, but I’m keeping it short for the sake of this painfully long post. 

Anon #2: Aw, good, man! I’m happy to hear that. I was worried his death wouldn’t sell well, to be honest. 

crowfeathertail: Firstly, thank you for the kind words and the excitement about Tigerclaw. I’m doing my best to fulfill my vision I have for him and I hope you’ll like it! Secondly, yes, Pinestar did in fact leave, but he gave no warning and ran deep into the Houses to hide from his Clan... and his responsibilities. 

Anon #3: Really, the only way I could see it is if the cats receive nine lives’ worth of memories and wisdom, rather than physical startovers. This could lead to the cats living longer lives and becoming more intelligent, or perhaps buckling under the mental strain of carrying around nine cats in your head. Plus, if a leader didn’t receive those memories, that would create tension in the story as they start to make mistakes no other leader would. 

littletreefox: No, I’m in full agreement with you. Even when I was younger, I felt weird about that little addition. I remember my OC leaders not having the nine lives for that reason. 

Anon #4: The only real thing is that deputies and leaders tend to be more intelligent than their Clanmates! But that’s just a common coincidence rather than anything mystical. 

leafiadream: Fireheart has no idea how to deal with this big mighty warrior being a pansy around humans. Greystripe hides his head in a hole and laughs. 

Anons #5 and 6: I get the feeling these were sent by the same person. In any case, I did consider that, but Sandstorm’s already got a canon relationship with him, so the simpler thing was to make him ginger.

In your response to the anon about mental illnesses, in the tags you said they show up mostly in elders so the apprentices would learn to deal with that. If there was an apprentice who was particularly good at taking care of the elders and showed an affinity to care giving, would that show up in their warrior name or be something that they continue to do as a full warrior? Even though it tends to be an apprentice job? Love this whole world btw, such amazing and thoughtful world building :)

Great icon, my man, gotta say. 

While elder care is primarily for apprentices, it’s not impossible for a warrior to take on that job throughout the rest of their life. It’s a rare cat that does that, though - elders enjoy being able to berate cats who can’t talk back, and most warriors are pretty busy hunting and patrolling. 

Of course, on the off chance a cat does, and it becomes a noticeable skill, their name would probably focus on a specific area of their caregiving (like -cloud for patience with even the most unruly elder or -throat for their ability to talk their seniors down from irritability or a mental episode). The elders would appreciate the attention, at any rate.

Ah! I saw your post about Spyro Reignited and I've been playing it nonstop since I got it! 1 and 7 for the daemon asks!

1. Name and how it was found?

My daemon’s name is Phaedra. It’s a Greek name, meaning “bright-” I’ve known it for years, and used it for a goddess in a story I was writing, as well as a couple other characters in other projects. I had no intention of using it for zir,  I was scrolling through a list of mythological names, and it was like bells went of in my head.  Zie wouldn’t be swayed towards any other name, and bright really does fit zir when all’s said and done. <3

Zir full name is Phaedra Sarasponde lyr Illusiel. Sarasponda is a song game I learned through Scouts, and the rest is sounds I strung together and like a lot. :) 

7. Any usual markings?

None, but I like to imagine that the sun plays on zir feathers/fur/scales and brings out  gold undertones in the light.
