Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
This is my first time ever seeing this movie, despite having read the book and wanting to see it before. I saw it was streaming on Starz, and it seemed appropriate today. For reasons.
Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) as Mr. Bennett??? Now it’s really a toss-up as to who is my favorite Mr. Bennett. Also, that scene of the girls getting dressed for the ball was A+++, goals af.
“Oh, that is unfortunate.” Lmao that delivery was amazing.
Bahahaha Elizabeth crushing Darcy’s carrion flies and dropping them in his hand. Total power move.
Lily James is so beautiful. I love her in everything. Bingley is adorable. Also the costumes are really nice. Not something I expected from a somewhat silly movie. I wasn’t sure I would like Matt Smith as Mr. Collins, but he’s crushing it.
Ugh, my computer freaked out and deleted like half of this, so now I have to try to recreate it.
Truly, I have never appreciated Matt Smith as much as I do in this movie. Well done, sir.
AND LENA HEADEY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! As Lady Catherine! Clearly, I made a huge mistake in not watching this movie sooner. Good thing I’m rectifying that now.
This proposal is already going well. “You’ve finally arisen. How fortuitous. I have some words to say to you.” Y i k e s lmao
This Darcy just seems like an ass. At least Colin Firth made it seem charming. He had panache. This guy makes Darcy look like an angry douche. I do like the brawl that this proposal has devolved into. It seems very in character for Lizzie.
OMG, THEY INCLUDED THE LAKE SCENE!!!!! Bless you, writers. Thank you for that very unsubtle throwback to the mini-series. You just get me.
I don’t remember any of this happening in the book, but it has been a hot minute since I read it.
Okay, I’m gonna call bullshit on her riding across the bridge through explosions and not getting knocked around before that. Source: my SO is getting his master’s in explosives engineering, and I’ve picked up a few things. (Yeah, that is a real thing that is happening. He is also licensed to shoot off professional grade fireworks.) Also, you know, physics.
All in all, it was a delightful movie, once you look past the silliness of it. The cast was A++. Would definitely recommend.
Up next: More day drinking and Moulin Rouge. Stay Tuned!
