I've been in the phandom for about 3 years now and I feel like I've watched just about every video either of them has ever posted, together or separate, learned basically all the lore, and am essentially fully caught up on everything I could ever need to know. But... I have not had it in me to watch their old live shows until now. I am watching these 2012 younows, and obviously I have seen most of the important clips from them, but man are these rough to watch. I can see how they would have been fun at the time, but dan is so sad and the internalized homophobia and obsessive phan comments are hard to stomach knowing everything. They're just so different. Like yeah, that's still dan and phil, but they are not the dan and phil of 2026, or even really the 2015 and after era. Even before they came out they sort of chilled out. Dan became less abrasive and defensive around then I think. I know this is a really long post for no reason. I'm just in my feels forcing myself to experience this for the first time
