On the 3rd of June, I’ll be playing live at the Belgian Modular Festival. For this occasion, I’ll be joined by Lyz on vocals for a semi-improvised performance involving a lot of live-looping and processing of her voice on a soundscape ranging from dark ambient to power electronics, industrial and post-whatever music.
More info here: http://www.belgianmodularfestival.be/
It’d be great to see some of you there !
The last and 5th part of the FINGERPRINTS EP walkthrough is about the Pinky.
This is the wikipedia entry on « Yubitsume »: "Yubitsume (指詰め?, "finger shortening") is a Japanese ritual to atone for offenses to another, a way to be punished or to show sincere apology to another, by means of amputating portions of one's own little finger. It is almost exclusively performed by the Yakuza, the prominent Japanese criminal organization."
Tasty right ? Well, the name makes sense since there’s this rupture between this track and the others.
The bass line was made with a guitar through a EHX POG2 on a -1 octave setting. The EHX Super Ego (yes again !) was used for the Pad part. The Kick sound is my pedalboard powering off.
All the glitchy sounds and main arpeggio were create thanks to heavy use of live-looping. I played different parts using different settings on the RedPanda Particle Delay but only sampled, in a rhythmically fashion, snippets of what I was playing. The effect pedals definitely helped getting different tones but it’s the live-looping techniques used that are « making » the track.

Did you know that Frances Ford Coppola includes a cooking recipe in all of his movies so, in case you don’t like the movie, you’ll get something out of it ?
Well, this 3rd track of the Modular Glitchtar Soundscapes Vol.1 is me applying Coppola’s idea.
"Toasted spice bread & peanut butter" is the 1st Live-looping improvisation I recorded with my electrified Dobro. I also used new effects and new looping techniques.
As a result, it has quite a different taste than the previous ones.
Listen and decide for yourself here: https://koyl.bandcamp.com/track/toasted-spice-bread-peanut-butter Oh, and here is the recipe:
1- Take a slice of spice bread and put in in a toaster.
2- Set the toaster on very moderate heat.
3- Toast the bread one. Wait for it to cool down.
4- Toast the bread one more time.
5- While the bread is still hot, put peanut butter on it.
6- Wait for tha whole thing to cool down.
7- Eat alongside a nice cup of tea or coffee.
(Needless to say that it tastes better when you’re listening to the track, which of course makes the track better as well)
I hope your tastebuds and ears will enjoy this. Thanks for listening (and tasting) !
