Oli XL’s Lick The Lens / Pt.1
posting one track from taller than the redwoods every day: part 3
we're a day behind, so y'all get two posts today!
"keeping you alive" was the first single off this album, and it's one we're still really proud of. em wrote it in the middle of becoming host of the system. we wanted it to be a piece of art about plurality that wasn't just extremely sad. it's of course still somewhat heavy and deeply personal, but em wanted to make sure the ultimate message of the song was still one of hope and joyous resilience.
at the end of the day, plurality very often emerges as a survival mechanism, and em wanted to celebrate the ways we survive and even thrive as a system.
(wanna check out the full album? it's here on bandcamp!)
