livelongandmasseffect replied to your post: the song that should have won this year
Have the system ever worked to our advantage? I get this feeling it's saved us from disaster as well, but I could be mistaken... I voted Nano too.
i actually did some research (not because of your reply initially tho but because i was curious and pissed lmao), and in the last ten years there have been three incidents like yesterday, where the song the jury thought were the best won the whole thing, even though the viewers hadnât voted for that song to win;
2008 - Hero won, viewers voted Empty Room as the winner and Hero as #2
2013 - You won, viewers voted Heartbreak Hotel as the winner and You as #2
2017 - I Canât Go On won, viewers voted Hold On as the winner and I Canât Go On as #3
and the jury hasnât actually saved us from any disasters even though they tried, the years that the viewers got to choose which song won even tho the jury wanted another were;
2009 - jury wanted Hope & Glory to win, La Voix won
2010 - jury wanted Keep On Walking to win, This Is My Life won
2014 - jury wanted Busy Doinâ Nothinâ to win, Undo won
2016 - jury wanted Human to win, If I Were Sorry won
out of those at least 3 were disasters if you ask me (or at least 2 âcause Undo wasnât total shit lol but i do love Busy Doinâ Nothinâ) but the jury didnât save us from them since what the viewers voted to win still won, and the rest of the years that i havenât mentioned the jury and the viewers had chosen the same winner (aka. 4 out of 10 years) so yeh.
my point in this is i think the jury is a stupid thing to have since it should be what WE as viewers (and to sound dramatic; as a country) vote to win that wins, no matter how good or bad that song is. i think thatâs the whole point of the fucking competition lmao but what can you do.
IâM VERY INVESTED IN THIS I KNOW, SHAME ME ALL YOU WANT
