national tea day. tea has become my saving grace. never really cared much about it until @rui.rae from @grasspeopletree entered my life. from her sharing her chinese culture and introducing me to the world of #livingtea. see just like a lot of things has been gentrified, white washed and taken away from its original form and purpose due to colonization and it’s aftermath. the ceremonial aspect of tea has been pushed aside to a kinda “niche” world, kinda like jazz. knowing where the tea comes from is primordial. green tea wasn’t my thing until i tasted some sourced from wild tea trees that are hundreds of years old and are guarded and harvested by tea masters. i didn’t know that master’s red that is my go to is actually a black tea. i didn’t know the true purpose of tea houses, the communal aspect of it, i didn’t know where Rui’s home of #guizhou was on a map. swipe to witness the beauty. i didn’t know... and I am learning the beautiful intricacies and story of #livingtea so forgive me if i only drink herbal infusions when offered some random brand. once you are hip to the history and the culture behind things you have trouble going back to an lesser qualitative experience. it’s not being snobby. it’s just once you know... you appreciate every single rebrew as if it was another story of flavors and healing that is being told to you.... oh and good quality tea can be brewed with 100c water. period. so if someone is coming to you with some different degrees for different teas... ask more questions.
