The government is backing artists into a corner and its going to destroy everything
i have logged back in so i can rant in this nostalgic safe space echochamber.
I have just been looking online for a local tattoo artist, and having difficulties finding one now i have given up my use of facebook, instagram, reddit, tiktok for over a year now. Fuck all of social media. It's a perversion of the human experience, and a tool for mass manipulation, but i digress.
After searching and browsing a couple tattoo artist websites, there were few images of the artists work, but when you did click to view an artists profile, it would take you to their instagram. Instagram and Facebook are currently down. I also know not every tattoo artist uses, or has a website, meaning there will be hundreds of artists i am unaware of becasue the fucking 'metaverse' is having technical difficulties.
Do you remeber when the idea was floated in the USA about banning tik tok in America due to the fact its made by a chinese company, and it's well know that it has been designed to dumb down an entire population by making it as addictive as possible, while also using it for political stratergies like spewing lies and false information which is used to incite hate and violence into the western popualtion? You know Chinese and Russion troll farming? Not just localised to tiktok by the way. How much of the US population relies on Tiktok for their income, or "growing their business", how many lives would have been on the line if they had passed that law?
Should we be relying on these websites for our livlihood? if we dont want to rely on it, then what is the other option?
Aside from techincal problems, cyber terrorism is, or is becoming, the new face of war, the global population cannot be backed into a corner where we are relying solely on Tiktok and instagram to keep our businesses afloat. Cyber terrorism, which has the capability to dessimate a countrys economical system, is something we should be very concerned about.
Cyber war affecting an artists livilood is one branch of a very fucking large tree that would wither and die if any of our online infrastructure were targeted.
To contrast the above gloom, we are a very resilient species, and we will and can bounce back from catastrophe, i just think we should all be keeping in the back of our mind a back up plan if things go tits up.
