despite the fact that he's...y'know...dead... i really wanted to design him, poor boy
so yeah, spectacular spiderman au basil is the lizard, his role is a little different, yes his name is still connors but he's not a scientist himself. his parents are though.
they use him as sort of a lab rat to see if they can regrow his arm that he lost in another (probably lab but its undecided right now) accident.
they inject him with lizard dna, which causes him to lose himself slowly and turn into that unhinged lizard creature.
he's the first BIG threat to the city that sunny faces as spiderman, before this it was only the occasional small crime.
spiderman manages to get the antidote from hero and aubrey and basil's parents, but he goes too far in trying to incapacitate basil, and accidentally kills him.
this of course gets the media talking, the newspaper is asking if spiderman really has the people's best interest. and sunny is...devastating
again i can touch more on this if i come up with any kinds of ideas
do feel free to send asks, i can go into more detail maybe, or make zale do it....or something
i love this au lots is very very indulgent but yknow...p neat...

What is your opinion on crocodilians? It’s a bit of a random question, but I was curious and figured you might enjoy something off-topic for a change. I think they’re oddly cute. Definitely need space and respect, but a bit cute. They have googly eyes, teeth too big for their mouths, short legs, and a body that looks like a giant pickle. It’s a bit goofy to me. Then again, people have said that I have a weird idea of what’s cute.
I had a row with the last reptilian thing I saw in the sewers. Then he tried to eat MJ and Ned. So don't expect me to find them cute- specially now. But they're amazing creatures, that's for sure.
Admit it, the ONLY reason you decided to have Lizard Basil die is because you secretly hate him. You can't fucking lie to me, The Lizard doesn't die in ANY adaptation of Spider-Man, the most that happens is the Connor persona "dying", you just wanted an excuse to kill him and say it's for "UwU eDgY sToRy PoInTs!!11!"
Me and twig just laughed over this for a good 30 minutes- we're like 50/50 on this being serious, but- it's just hysterically wrong.
For one thing, we're both huge Basil advocates. Anyone we know knows this, and him dying in one au really doesn't say our stance on that. We both love Basil, and all the omori characters. Neither of us would kill him off just because we want to.
Second, the lizard does die in an adaptation of Spiderman- specifically Gwen Stacy as Spiderwoman, where Peter Parker actually becomes the lizard and dies with her watching from the chemicals he used on himself. We just took the last name Connors because it's easier.
Also, spiderman is an edgy comic series in general. And there's nothing wrong with something being edgy, especially a spiderman au. That's practically guaranteed. In just Peter Parker Spiderman, he loses most of his family. The entire message of spiderman is that you can't always save everyone.
The last point I'll make here, cuz I'm kind of just rambling at this point. The purpose behind Basil dying in this au is to be Sunny's equivalent of Peters uncle Ben, or Gwen's Peter Parker, or Miles' uncle Aaron. His death was an accident, one of the first real fights Sunny was in as spiderman and a time when he overused his strength. Basil's death is his motivation to do whatever he can to help people, and never kill someone like that again. It's not just for edgy purposes, it's a driving point in Sunny's motivation as Spiderman and is also a focal point in plot points further into the au.
This ask gave us a good laugh, but it's also wrong on all accounts. Hope that's clear now.
